I sort of get it but isn't he right footed? And spending another mil on a League 1 CB leaves a bad taste at the moment.

He's only made 2 league appearances for Birmingham this season. Just what we need another league one standard defender.

In a dressing room quite clearly lacking quality and characters - I’m not sure someone who currently can’t get a game in League One and was nicked for drink driving whilst his side were relegated last season is the route we should be going down

He’s fucking pony… Blues fans would rightly be pissing themselves at us if we paid them to have him

Hopefully a load of bollocks.

£1m for a League One CB who can’t even get into his League One side. Is Dean Austin actively trying to get us relegated?

Anyone heard anything about this? Do get it, for a million but only if more money is available as otherwise seems a waste when it doesn’t address our problems atm

My head has seriously gone at this rumour, what a fucking painfully average signing in a painfully average season

Praying it’s bollocks

I honestly remember thinking he looked pretty good when I saw him play for Birmingham. That was only a few times though.

Could be other reasons he’s not in their team much at the moment, not necessarily ability?

Either way, I will reserve judgement.

To be fair money doesn’t necessarily buy quality but means we have to be way more careful. Not holding out hope atm but who knows, football can change very quickly

Well the windows where we were without a pot to piss in have been considerably better than the ones where we have had money so it might be a blessing in disguise

Keep signing league one players and we will be in league one.
if DK is serious about getting out this league we need proven quality from the championship and abroad not a load of players whos achievements are league one and below.
I know without parachute payments its difficult but there is a reason teams in the top six are top six and thats because there starting 11 isnt made up of lower league. There are one or two gems that can step up but not half our team and if DK isnt prepared to py wages to compete with quality then we are pissing in the wind and the reason our top players move on instead of us building

I hope not, half decent on his day but he's not an upgrade on any of the back line. Complete waste of money. Wouldn't have minded him a few years back but not now.

Trying to take the positives from it. We desperately need cover at right back and he can play there, big lad, loads of Championship experience, former captain of Birmingham so clearly has good leadership, not a kid at 25 years old. I don't mind it personally as we're crying out for these sort of attributes in the squad.

I don’t think he is a leader. Granted he was captain for a while but that was stripped from him.
There is a possibility that a fresh start under a new manager could kick start his career, but really we do not need another fragile flapping fanny of a defender. We’ve got enough of them already.

There are positives but just feels a bit desperate as a signing. But who knows new club might help him after what happened. Was good for them when he went on loan before he signed and all the crap happened

We do, hopefully he can step up if true. Wonder if it’s difficult to stay at a club and preform once you’ve been stripped of the armband tho like he was.

I doubt he is our next captain - Birmingham have already decided he’s not good enough
