Astute - why would you play a striker that thrives off playing on the last man and looks like scoring goals in attacking midfield? Cody's running and positioning is what actually stretches oppositions back fours creating the space for an attacking midfielder. Playing him in that roll will nullify the space, and instead of playing of the last man will have a defensive midfielder as well as centre backs between him and the goal.
From the vids I saw of his goals last season a lot of them were going past players or getting on the end of knockdowns. We have two strikers that can get on the end of high balls and knock it down. Our problem has been not having a player getting on the end of them. If Cody is a bit behind them then he might be in a better place and not be marked as much as he would be if he played as a striker. The defenders would be on the two big men after the crosses, not the player running in. Or would you prefer the smallest of our strikers going up with big defenders and trying to beat them in the air?
We need to change the way we attack. It is not working. We have limited players. We should play the players we have to a system that is good for them, not just because they are all we have. Cody seems to be getting towards match fit now. We should be trying to give him more opportunities to get better chances and not have him marked by at least two defenders. We have 3 strikers that could work well together. Why not give it a go in an away game that most are expecting us to lose against a team that has scored 7 goals in the last two games. Or should we just sit back and risk getting hammered?
It's a bit different dropping deep to get involved in play than actually playing in the attacking midfield position, having to do your defensive duties and be creative as well as trying to get up and attack.

We need to do something different. If we sit back at a place like Millwall we will lose. Once the fans get behind their team it will be backs to the wall. They know the way we have played all season. We need to do something different. Two big men up front and a player that can score ready for the ball to come to him whilst less marked than the big men. Balls coming in from Christie and maybe Sheffers. Much better than having a toothless attack and defending most of the game. It is about time we played different and let the other team do changes at half time. Otherwise we will do the same as most away games this season and hope for a point.

1) Why would we get hammered? We've only been hammered once against a far superior and experienced side. Just because they have had two big wins on the bounce doesnt mean they will do it again. We all though Leeds would do us at ellend road.
2) in a front two Juke goes up for the headers and Cody makes the runs behind, so rarely goes for headers against a big man. Plus we don't play hoofball. On crosses he is great at getting between defenders so again rarely goes in 1-on-1 for headers
3) Platt's lack of movement and pace will enable millwalls slow defenders (e.g ward) to defend high up the pitch, and stifle any room in the 'hole'
4) in the am role Cody will have to do his defensive duties and also be creative and get involved in the build up. Can he do these roles? I'm not so sure
5) cody has very good movement around the box getting in between defenders - this is natural movement that can't be coached. In the am role he will have to make runs from a lot deeper - they are different kind of runs that wont come natural to him.
6) Our big problem has been our inability to play the same let alone the strongest line up for a decent run of games, this is the main reason we have struggled to get into a decent rhythm and develop our attacking play. How can juke and Cody strike up a partnership if they don't play a decent run of 8-10 games together. Everyone is slating sheffers in the hole, but he's not played more than 3 games in a row, we're continually having to change out midfield because of injury, suspension and form. We've never managed to put the same line up out for more than 2 games running, we've had so many differed striking partnerships, midfield set up, men in the hole, it's no wonder we're inconsistent especially considering the quality and size of the squad.

Platt and Juke up front don't mean we will be overwhelmed in midfield. Sheffers out wide on the left and cutting in, Christie on right and going forward and Cody advanced midfield and running forward when we have the ball. When attacking it would be like having 4 strikers on the pitch. We would have an interchangable 4-4-2, 4-3-3 and 3-5-2, or even 3-4-3. If we attack then they have to defend. If they have to defend then they will attack less. If we attack more then we have a chance of scoring more than 1 goal in a game.
Or do we carry on playing the same way away from home as we have been doing? :thinking about:
