Brilliant torchie , with what has happened over the recent years most of our fans have forgotten what an innovative and well run club we were. There are wealthy and innovative fans out there we just need ,a fresh start, with a rich owner. Look at Bournemouth. Say no more.

Jimmy Hill got me started going to Highfield Road and to me he is Coventry City. Listening to Bournemouth fans celebrating and well done to them it brings back memories of when we went into the top flight under Jimmy. Thanks for sharing.

Speaking from second hand stories retold to me and reputation but a true legend of not only Coventry but football, we were so fortunate to have him when we did. You will never get another like him.

Totally agree. I was there and saw the miracle unfold.

I also agree with your second point. It`s unlikely we will ever see that kind of transformation again. It`s a different world now and most transfers then took place at a time of the club`s choosing. Today, how long would we be able to hang on to players like Ronnie Rees, Ian Gibson and others who stayed with us long enough to see us into the 1st division.

We were the first at everything back then. It was a thrilling time to be a CCFC supporter. It's unlikely those times will return in any of our lifetimes. Well maybe if you are 10 or under, there is a very slim chance.

Over the past few years Southampton have done just that, It can be done again, just need the right people running the club. Coventry can be a team to be proud of again. Look what Wasps owners are doing in the same city right now. Its just waiting to happen, Please lets get that ambition going again.

It is just a bloody shame Jimmy Hill wasn't so very ill and has been for over 2 years now Had he had his full facailties he would certainly have got involved in our plight and taken these owners of ours on and very publically too and Fisher and co would not have "battered" him in court

The removal of the wage cap was the beginning of the end of the game as a truly competitive sporting system. The haves and have nots and the clubs destroyed in the process of trying to compete with those with sugar Daddies. Sadly Jimmy Hill brought our club through the ranks but then inadvertently helped to start the initiatives that means we are now homeless. I don't think in truth though he thought it would have come to all this.

Removing the wage cap had to happen, it was an antiquated pre-war farce. At the time the Italians were hoovering up our top stars, John Charles, Gerry Hitchens, Jimmy Greaves and Denis Law more would have followed to Italy and Spain. It happened 55 years ago and the beginning of the end as you say, has that begun yet ? Premier grounds look full most games even at struggling teams at 30,40 quid a game. Against Euro law now anyway to cap any wage, i think.

Absolute Pioneer to transform our club to the club it was (and sort of is still today). Our issue is that we stayed still for too long and the world went past us very quickly.
