Ex West Brom manager to apply for City hot seat

Former Chelsea player and West Brom manager Roberto Di Matteo is keen on becoming the eleventh Coventry City manager in ten years according to a report in Mirror Football.
Di Matteo is ready and available to start work immediately as he was sacked as The Baggies manager a little over a month ago.

The 40 year old Swiss born Italian national lives in Leamington Spa, so is already local. After hanging up his playing boots Di Matteo became manager of Milton Keynes Dons in 2008 before being lured to West Bromwich Albion in 2009.

While at MK Dons he led them to the League 1 play offs after finishing third in the division, but lost in the semi finals to Scunthorpe on penalties.

In his first season as the Baggies boss, he led them to automatic promotion to the Premier League, finishing in second place behind Newcastle United.

The Mirror also claims that Di Matteo will be one of the first candidate to be interviewed for the vacant manager's post.

Would be a good choice as he likes to play football the right way.if the players we have in the squad can adapt.

We have proved a few times this season that we can pass the ball and run at the opposition.

Usually every manager has their own players and their players they are close to.

Like AB and King, Strachan and Telfer ha

Di Matteo is top of my list at the moment but I'm also going to keep a close eye on how Andy Thorn finishes this season just listening to Sky Sports last night on our game filled me with optimism I haven't felt for a while!

I think this has to be good news. It at least shows the Coventry poison chalice isnt putting managers off. Get him interviewed, and see what his thoughts are. Promising.

I would imagine He would want his own staff or at least Eddie Newton. Also any manager coming in would be Working under Andy Thorn if He remains as it sounds like He signs most of the players.

Im not sure look at all the managers weve had and no one has even had us close to the play offs since we went down, i feel we need a manager who knows the kind of players and style it takes to get promoted to the pl someone whos been there plenty of times and can keep a good run of winning games going, every year no matter what manager we have its the same shit we start well and were battling the drop at the end of the season.

We should go tie him up immediately. After last night it is all too clear the players prefer to play football and are more suited to it.
I have not seen that kind of play from us for quite some time....Clingan ruled in the middle, Macca was dangerous all night and took a glorious goal. The Juke found a new freedom to express what's bursting inside him. we had a makeshift defence so fix that and we will be worth watching again.....DiMateo can clearly see his opportunity and he lives here? Enough said.

My dad and uncle are both from Carlisle and support the club, so i'll have to ask them of their thoughts (although they both live in Worcestershire now, so i dunno how much they'll have been to see them). I'll be at the JPT Final at Wembley in a couple of weeks anyway, so may be able to report back after that on how they play!
