As much as Hyam gave the ball away, having watched it back Byrne who crossed it ran 60 yards, Maatsen didn't bother to track him at all.

Hamer was ball watching from the cross too

I was literally going to post that. Maatsen and Dabo are nowhere near, O'Hare got back and he's a number 10.

From memory they had 3 free players on the far side that the cross could’ve fell to, and I’d have put a lot of money on them to score.

Hamer needed to be more aware it wasn’t a good cross that could have been stopped

Such a flukey deflection , most times you'd expect it to deflect for a corner

Look where Dabo is when Shinnie is about to finish it.

I assume when Hyam misplaced the pass he was well into their half - he’s not getting back

Maybe but their only shot on target all afternoon and they should have been 2 or 3 down by that point. Yes I’m mainly still just pissed off from that second half

Maatsen is further out and it came down his side.

Maatsen Yellow, Byrne Blue

Picture one, this is where Maatsen and Byrne are when they win the ball.

Picture two, Byrne busts a gut to get forward, running past Maasten in his own half to get to the forward position to cross the ball in and Maatsen isn't even in frame when he got to the crossing position. He has done this a number of times including in the hammering against Luton.

Did we have a real shot on target in open play

I did say during the Preston game that Hyam always gives the ball away, honestly the guy is a fucking liability with the ball at his feet!

There is no individual (minus the strikers) who can avoid fault there all of them could have done better

I suspect we would have done from the move that led to the pen.

Usually when a mistake leads to a goal there’s 2 or 3 other things that contribute to it. We still had plenty of chance to stop them scoring. Maybe that it why Robins was referring to people being tired.

Kelly didn't get back into the penalty area either did he? He was the sub and the deepest lying midfielder at the point Hyam lost it

JCS was too slow to close down too.

Hyam takes the brunt of the blame for sure, but as others have said there's about 4 players who could have done more (as is often the case with most goals).

Yeah in the second picture I posted Kelly is on the 6 yard box in between Hyam and Fadz (who is moving across to press Byrne)

There will always be mistakes made in defensive areas. It's just more likely when you are constantly being attacked as at Preston 2nd half and large chunks of yesterday in 2nd half.
The real problem was not offering any threat going forward ourselves.

Yep, baffled how no one has mentioned JCS in this. Positioning is poor. Lackluster attempt to win the ball.

Kelly was at fault first. We were near the halfway line going forward and he chose to go backwards with an under hit pass.

We got lucky with the deflection off the keeper at Blackburn, but how many times do score from lucky deflections rather than concede
