Derby actually fought and wanted to win.

Not sure any players deserve credit for that and neither does lampard.

Leaves wright on against defenders who will head a brick clear all day.

Officials dog shit again

Not sure why Grimes was sat between the two CB’s for most the game. Done nothing.

Thats literally what he does.

I’m not sure today that’s what we needed agreed, but he has done exactly that in all the other games so far…

Not that deep.
At times he was the last man.
So ineffective today.

MVE, Saka, Grimes all good. Bidwell worryingly bad. Wright not fit. The incredulous news is that Dasilva may be our first choice left back

Bidwell and Haji with two of the worst performances for a very, very long time.

Everything else was meh. Derby did the job. A lesson for Frank.

Agree with most of that - too many off it - Haji miles away but he’s only gonna get sharper with game time. Bidwell was one of those - just weren’t his night.
I wouldn’t have taken Simms off myself.
my emotional reaction to it is they were shite - we didn’t do enough things well enough to cause them bother.

I think their goalie Zetterstrom is good. Would be an upgrade on Collins and Wilson for sure.

He said the first one, which is true. It should have been saved. Dovin was poor tonight, along with most of them.

If Collins had have let that first one in, people (and by people, I mean me) would have been griping about it hard.

this seems to be a recurring issue with players coming back from significant injuries. There seems to be no confidence that playing in the U23s is of any benefit so they have to find fitness in important, meaningful, games.

assuming other clubs have the same problems maybe a rethink is needed and some sort of reserve league reintroduced.

Saka and MvE - decent
Almost everyone else - poor
Simms and Wright - abysmal
Bidwell - almost comical
Cba to do all subs, EMC and Dasilva were ok and in hindsight things may have been different if they started.

Need our strikers to actually start contributing to the goals soon. Can't just rely on centre back, wingers and midfielders to do it each week.

Agree entirely. Get them to prove they're up to speed in the U21's.

Yep yep. I don’t hate Simms, but he is purely just an instinctive striker. I never feel he will create something even if given time.

Pretty lethargic performance all round. I think Derby just wanted it more.
Tactically wrong tonight i feel. I don't think there was really any standout players.
Feel like we could have changed formation at half time, possibly needed 2 up top against these. Slightly frustrating that we are not making changes earlier than the pre-planned subs, when we need to.
Found it odd that Wright stayed on for the 90 mins, think it was clear to everyone that he was off it.
Ball looked well out for their second, and the referee bottled a red card in the first half. With that being said, Bidwell could have gone too.
We were never going to go unbeaten, let's hope they put it behind them, get some recovery in and put it right on Saturday.
It's in our hands.

Dovin - 5 - Two shots on target, two goals conceded
MVE - 7 - Good. Worked harder than anyone else.
Thomas - 5 - Bullied, tried to shoulderbarge Adams at one point and went flying himself
Kitching - 4 - Bullied and somehow losing aerial duels to wingers
Bidwell - 2 - Should arguably have been sent off. Tragic.
Grimes - 5 - Sloppy. Slowed us down at times when chasing.
Torp - 5 - Outworked, zero end product.
Eccles 5 - Outworked, zero end product.
Saka - 6 - Looked like the only player who could create a chance.
Wright - 3 - Pony. Couldn't trap a bag of cement.
Simms - 5 - Pocketed by Matt fucking Clarke.

Yes, I've never really rated him, he's done alright in some games winning headers and bringing others into play and he's made me look silly on a few occasions where I've doubted him, then he turns it on and scores out of nowhere.

But he's just like you said, instinctive, i just don't know what he's actually good at, can't fault the effort of course.

If bidwell ever does anything in a skyblue shirt again other than make the tea, Id be happy. Gave away the needless stupid foul for their first, him and wright a constant liability down our left, and boy didn't Derby know and exploit it. Wrights body language all wrong coming out second half, blowing into his hands because he was cold, bless him, rather than rolling his sleaves up and saying "we're going to get something from this". So pissed off with that and the only thing good I can say is at least Frank knows we need a decent left back next season, if he didn't already and wright cant compete as a center forward as he just doesn't have the strength, presents nor inclination. Possibly one of the worst headerers of a football Ive ever seen. The higher he jumps the further his head disappears into his and body.
