I do wonder if we will at times go to a back 5, play MVE as a RCB and Bidwell as LCB.

Yeah probably, if injuries dictate. I know we need options and varieties which is probably the answer and/or we’re struggling to offload players

Didn’t see any point in bringing Raphael on with 30 seconds left and I’d have predicted he’d start on the right if it was common knowledge that Tats would be out. I don’t think he rates Simms and he obviously favours BTA looking at game time he gets.

The confusing parts is MVE/KKH situation and LB. We have 3 LBs!

Subs were all about time wasting and not letting Derby find a rythmn.
Closing out the match.

Dasilva back to being targeted and bullied again. MVE got away with it because his defending was shocking. Rushworth less than commanding.

Torp, EMC great and good to see Wright looking like he wanted to play football again.

I thought he did a lot of the “unseen” stuff today and bought some much needed control in the final quarter.

He didn't play badly ie losing the ball, bad passes etc , he just wasn't really in the game.

MVE 6.5 - Some suspect defending but the cross for EMC was a peach
Thomas 6 - Rescued by his "goal"
Kitching 6.5
JDS 5
Grimes 6
Torp 8
Rudoni 5
EMC 8
Wright 7
BTA 7

Overall a really really odd game.

A couple of peaches in the Torp and EMC goal, good work by EMC to win the penalty.

Defensive frailties and mistakes still there. Thought all 3 goals could have been avoided.
We clearly need another CB, but will it cut conceding so many out? Not sure, Lampard clearly likes playing high risk high reward footbal, lots of 2v2's against a team that didnt necessarily have much quality attacking wise.

Created a lot of chances, but they didnt low block like expected and actually tried to go toe to toe with us.

7 for Wright? Apart from the pen he was meh. Poor first touch 2 poor shots and just not in the game at all

I think the main thing with Simms is that Lampard sees Wright as a 9 thru the middle, so if he’s doing 1 up with wingers then wright will get the nod, but he feels with his pace and stature that Asante can do the winger bit, whereas Ellis can’t.
Raphael needs more sub appearances I think to test him against championship opposition before he’s let loose with a start in the league. Certainly not an away league game at least.

He carried the ball well and was part of an attack that scored 5. All of them deserved at least a 7

Team performance today Torp, Grimes consistently do the right thing. Rest its very patchy.

Biggest thing that stood out was the fitness levels. Noticable difference between the sides in the last 20 mins. We are going to be a very good side again and will give lots of teams the run around.

Still need help 2 or 3 to add quality depth but tp score 5 away from home is a big positive

BTA attempted just 8 passes in 96 mins of football, and managed to complete just 4 of them.

Torp man of the match.

Can't even rank it, mve had a poor game but 2 assists.

Bta and emc had spells but both got goals.

Thomas shocker but a goal.

The cross from MVE first time was sublime but yes it wasn’t his best performance

Rudoni was also part of that attack yet it’s being said he a had a poor game
Bar the penalty Wright did very little today and had another of his anonymous games.

Rushworth 6
MVE 5 - wonderful assist for the 4th but was half asleep most of the game. He’s going I reckon.
Thomas 7 - Going nowhere, but poor header for Derby’s 3rd. Clearly pushed for their penalty.
Kitching 8
Da Silva 6
BTA 8 - That touch out wide which led to Torp’s goal was class
Grimes 7
Torp 7
Rudoni 7
EMC 8 - MOM
Wright 7 - Getting close. Some great flicks in the 1st half. By Oxford he’ll be fully fit.

We looked classy today. On another level than Derby. Their first goal was never a free kick,. It was a foul on EMC, and Thomas was pushed for the penalty. Two hands on his back.
Awful referee. Gave us very little, and cost us 2 goals. I thought we defended pretty well. Shoreline flatters Derby massively.
1-6 would of been a true reflection of the game

I think the MVE situation will be sorted soon! I watched Frank after he got the crowd up cheering at the end of the gamr, he said to EMC you need to go and do yours now if I was you.

Today showed why we need to sort defence, we will score goals, not worried about that so much.

we need to sort defence out, that will go long way to helping us. Also with injury to tats, we need wingers!!!!

Conceding three goals is an illustration of the same issues we had last year.

We need another CB clearly - there’s zero point in selling Thomas or we’d need two - and another forward. Left defensively as well we look vulnerable

I feel I would have to give players two ratings. The good bits and the bad bits

A Jekyll and Hyde performance typical of an early season game.

We got the result so that's the main thing.
