A note to say that yours truly and some of the best chess playing youngsters in the city will be in the fan village for next Friday’s game. We’ll have boards and sets to play, while I’m trying to get a giant set for anyone to have a go.

Coventry is hosting the British championships in the summer and we have a huge number of talented kids come through the junior club I help to run on Saturdays, so the city is in a great place for chess for the foreseeable. The council have very kindly helped us carry out some promotional activities (like this) to further boost the game’s popularity in the city.
