Is this likely?

Alan Nixon: Derby County face 'massive' points deduction as finer details emerge following season finale News: The72 - Football League News

Nixon writes in The Sun on Sunday (09.05.21, pg. 63) that Derby County face a 'massive points penalty' next season.

But is it a thing? That just seems to have come from nowhere unless I've missed something.
Timing seems contrived if it is a thing.

I can think of two months when they were late paying wages

Not a breach of rules as the payments were made

That's what I was thinking.
There must be much more buried somewhere. Seems odd though.

It wouldn’t be anything to do with that but the breaking of FFP that they tried to get around with Morris ‘buying’ the stadium for an inflated price to bump the finances. Which is precisely what Wednesday were done for

Not really. We were only 1 goal up after an hour weren’t we? Didn’t log on at all

It says Hyam scored a third on an hour to make it 3-1?

I would love it from one respect, but really it is not right for the competition, that something like that can be called after the season
I would rather they start next season on -12

Surely they would have to have it next season now. As results are done and dusted.

But does show what a joke it is. If your a rotherham fan you would be massively angry if they stay up on -12 and you go down.

Few bits of info

But reports say EFL have won the appeal. So punishment will be interesting.

Would we rather have Wycombe in the league with us or Derby with a massive points deduction ?

But we all know like always with the EFL, Derby will get a slap on the wrists and a fine.

Derby put a block on it being reported and are still under investigation, love Wycombe to get a reprieve!

Derby havent even filed their 2019 accounts yet. They were due June 2020

2017 showed £8m in losses
2018 showed £14m in profit ( but only after a £40m profit on the stadium disposal )

Both 2017 & 2018 show amortisation(depreciation) of player registrations

The auditors would be hard pressed to sign off any football club accounts that didn't show amortisation of player contracts (assuming players have been shown as an asset - some clubs write off 100% in year of acquisition). Whether they have been valued properly could also create problems

I didnt think the valuation was arbitrary, and they had to write off the purchase value over the length of the contract or shorter (Depending on their policy)

"Saved" £30m of losses through their amortisation method, a method not used by any other team in English football.

At best they've intentionally exploited a loophole but if that's the case I'm stunned no other club has tried it before.

Imagine Wycombe getting 2 bits of serious luck 2 years in a row

Their first bit of luck was not having to play us at Saint Andrews to fuck their PPG

Be interesting to see what EFL do.
I mean SW went to a court and had the penalty halved.
Makes a bit of a mockery of EFL sanctions if another body (court for sport) can overturn or amend its decisions.

Why not give them the choice of a 12point deduction applied to next season or 6 point one for this?
