Ok it's only an opinion, well Frank Lampard obviously rates Grimes so that's all that counts.

And to answer your question what if EMC is out, I would play Haji Wright on the left with Simms and Sakamoto on the right.

I highly doubt Wright is fit to start, hence why I went to 3-5-2 and left Sakamoto out

Frank & his coaching staff , will have info on Derby & set our team up accordingly.
Our strength in depth means options are readily available & the squad is playing for our coach & seemingly loving every minute of it .
Another tight game , against a team scrapping for their lives , but as long as we don’t play Asante , I think we will be 10 out of 11

Blackburn have not been great of late so Derby's win may not be a sign of an upsurge in their form. But Euctice will start getting them results and so this may be tough if we don't get an early goal. We should be winning it but teams on tremendous runs in football get beat at somepoint, like Leeds at Pompey. It could be a similar result.
We are not too convincing atm even though we have won games. That fortune will change inevitably. It's so tough to predict. I'd be happy with a draw keeping us in 5th place. I can't see us losing.

Same team except Wright in for EMC who has a knock and will be on the bench. If MVe is unfit then Lati should start. Bidwell in for DeSilva.

Derby 30.1% possession at home with 2 shots on target last game. Won 2-1. Lots of injuries with maybe more from their last game.

They haven't suddenly become good. They're still in the bottom 3 for a reason. We're not the best in defence but only Leeds have scored more goals than us in the last 10 games.

Won't be easy but what game is easy in the Championship? Think we will win it by the odd goal yet again and pull away from the chasing pack.

2-1 win, Simms & Wright.
And a surprise return for our navy blue 4th kit will be the biggest news of the day.

I think it will be 1-1, for no better reason than the fact it would be insane for us to win 11 out of 12.

I really want us to win this though, with a run of three really tough games coming up although I fancy us to get four points from those.

Inept defending?

Thank God we don't have that in OUR makeup. We'll be fine.

Indeed. Teams who have more goals than shots on target have to be feared

In an unusual move about 2 weeks ago I mindlessly agreed to go and watch Barry Town vs Aberystwyth Town with a former colleague…”yeah, yeah I’ll drive us there”. Not even considering we might have a game on, I only remembered I did this late last night.
So I’ll be watching that shit, making small talk, and endlessly checking my phone.

Barry Town 1 - 2 Aberystwyth Town

Late goal back from Barry, after being 2 nil down. Probably Oliver Hulbert* with the consolation goal.

I’d be tempted to go back to 5 at the back from now. We’re leaking goals again

Not for me
First goal was assante not passing and we were completely out of position
Second offside
Oxford bad headed goal from corner
Do we suddenly look open again? I’m not so sure

I remember the first save from koumas what was the other one?
it’s also what keepers are for
I’m not saying we’re playing well and there's a definite weakness on the lhs
If mve is out I think we’ll play 5 but I’m quite hopeful that grimes and sheaf can support the back 4 well enough

Think it was Al hammadi - it was more he was slow.

point being Stoke were able to create 3/4 Good chances at ease. We’ve conceded quite frequently since returning to 4atb.

going into a period of games where we play Sunderland, Sheff Utd, Burnley and West Brom where the chances are they won’t be as wasteful as Stoke.

Quick glance and their forum, they are down to the bare bones with injuries and they think Saturday took a lot out of them.

Even if EMC and MVE are out I still think we’ll have enough to win this. 2-0 win.

It won't be an easy game but out of the 3 (Oxford, Stoke & Derby), I was always most confident for this game.

Derby are dog shit, the win over Blackburn is not an uptick in form. The two goals came early when Blackburn hadn't switched on and both were from shocking defending. Add to the fact, Eustace was playing his old team and would have had an upper hand. It was a one off. Speaking to Derby fans and they say that he has made, little or no difference since joining.

It'll be a tight game and not pretty but I think we'll edge it by a single goal.

I think Eustace will turn it around and I think Stoke are looking just as likely to be relegated, I am wary of this game, very wary.

I don't want to see Wright played down the middle again. I don't want to see BTA again especially out wide. Genuinely feel we should dip Bassette's toes back in a little bit now. He's a future asset with a ceiling far surpassing BTA's. Let him have 15/20 mins centrally again, if the game allows.

The Sheaf/Grimes axis now needs to be cemented in.

I just dont see Lampard letting them get complacent - his elite mindset really helps. Only focus is derby, then Sunderland etc.

Would like to see sheaf start tomorrow and Allen (but not sure where Allen gets in). MVE looked ok dancing around on tik Tok yesterday, so expect him to start!!

Bidders in for JDS also.

That could definitely be the problem but I think this is where Lampard is definitely the right man. His wealth of experience will cut that at source.

Plus, I think many of our players are 'confidence players'. Which was a huge factor at the start of the season. Lampard has made improvements (tactics, coaching) but installing that belief has had the biggest impact. So when they have it, they are very much 'never say die'.

And so they should have this belief. Top.of the form table from 10 games. Scored 18 goals conceded 9. Only Leeds have scored more. Only Leeds, Burnley and Preston have conceded less.

On the subject of recent form Derby are last in the previous 10 games with just 5 points. Scored 4 conceded 14. They are struggling to put a side together. Bottom v top in the form table.

I know games don't always go to form. But this is a great chance of pulling clear from the teams below us considering who they have to play.

I think this could be the end of our winning streak, we really have not been convincing of late. The last few outings have been reminiscent of our games at the start of the season.

For me Allen needs to come back into the fold, we are far to passive off the ball.

I agree. We need a partner for Grimes.
Allen ahead of Sheaf & Eccles. Both anonymous Saturday.
Sheaf excused ,lack of game time. Eccles low energy & tactically, well , positionally where was he actually playing against Stoke ?

It was a flat 3 with Eccles being the most advanced in the defensive shape where he would join the line with Simms to make a 4-4-2 shape. Lampard was complimentary of the midfield (including Eccles) in his post-match comments.

If Torp can hit form, there’s a compelling case to play a 4-3-3 with Rudoni and Torp with Grimes at the base. The only pitfall is that we can leave a lot of space between the lines which is where Lampard probably intends to use Sheaf because he’s good at interceptions and tackling high up the pitch.

Looking to Derby, I’d play Grimes-Allen-Torp because Allen covers so much ground and at his best, can snatch a goal.

Eccles has played at RWB a few times, and from memory has always played well there.
I think he finds it easier than central midfield as most of the play is in front of him and to his left, and as much as he is criticised he has a good right foot.

want 3 here, I'm not in the "take a draw" camp

In the last 10 games they have picked up 5 points.

I'm not saying if we don't win we wont make playoffs, but, as a team looking for/expecting playoffs, you really should be beating these, home or away

Looked to be a 4-5-1 defence shape but could be wrong. Think the gap between the two midfielders and grimes could be an issue especially with Grimes sitting into the back two creating a back three.

Think could be something in pulling our press back a bit and compacting the distance between the back two and the CMs
