When signing a player a top manager will see if a player fits in because he signs him with a view to making an impact, he also is supposed to be a good judge that if he signs a player on a contract rather than a loan, the manager thinks he may be around for a while. The fact that 2 of his permanent signings and 1 loan have left shortly after signing worries me about Pressley's judge of character as much as seeing a players talent.

Well in the respect of Slager he was never a player that Pressley said would make a sudden impact he was a player for the future..

I continue to believe that Pressley has had the advantage of players signed by Thorn and the Youth team built by Ranson's foresight. He's certainly got the best out of them, but it remains to be seen if he is as good a buyer of players as he is a motivator.

I'm not really including loans in judging Pressley's ability to sign players as most of them were probably only signed as short term.

From 5 permanent signings, two of them have already left and Urqhart is no where near the squad. The only ones to make an impact are Seabourne and Webster and they are part of one of the worst defences in the league

Urqhart - Deemed a player for the future we were told this when he signed.

Slager - Deemed a player for the future we were told this when he signed.

Manset - Didn't work hard enough and seemed to lose interest, but had undoubted ability.

Webster - The jury is still out on him.

Seaborne - Is a very good defender, he has experienced three promotions.

So 3/5 of the permanent signings can really be forgiven then?

I don't know why we would sign players older than a youth players "for the future" and they are still lower down than our 16 year olds?

Homesick I would assume like I said earlier in the thread it's okay if your a Januzaj and you get brought over as a kid and the finance package is there to help you and your family. Slager didn't have that, family, friends and his home are where his life is, if he doesn't feel he has settled away from his family and friends at such a tender age then he has right to say it.

I don't have experience as such but when I was 18 I was offered to go and teach in America and under Developed Countries I didn't in the end and I know I made a mistake but you can't put a price on home because it ran through my head during my decision making 24/7.

Whats your point with this post. If it is to show what good signings they were then WTF. Urqhart is nowhere near the first team, Slager and Manset gone after a very short time, Webster is shit (lets be honest) and Seabourne is part of the worst defence in the league. So 3/5 what?

It's not justifying how good what player is or isn't, it highlights that two players have yet to feature because they are still not ready, one player wasn't patient enough, Seaborne came in and you feel he brought something to the back line, Webster I am not sure on in truth but Pressley trusts him so therefore I trust Pressley.

They aren't lower than our 16 year olds Urqhart is in the development squad, George Thomas got a chance because we had no other option, I am sure Pressley would have considered the same had we had the same issue at CB.

Slager clearly isn't a player for the future as he has left, disaster signing
We knew that about Manset before he signed, all his previous clubs said it. We also had him on trial before and knew what sort of player we were signing, disaster signing.
Urqhart, fair point. Although is there a reason he has hardly made the bench at all though this season when players as young as 16 have been regularly on our bench this season?
Seabourne and Webster, it would be insane to call either a success with the number of goals we continue to concede. Websters been here for 2/3 of a season and hasn't done what he was signed for, he's in his 30s and is only declining as a player

I mean lower down in the pecking order. If our 16 year olds are above him by getting on the bench, why sign him?

We knew that about Manset before he signed, all his previous clubs said it. We also had him on trial before and knew what sort of player we were signing, disaster signing. - Fair point, but we had no other options at that point, we were lucky in the fact that Leon and Callum hit it off, it could have easily been different.

Urqhart, fair point. Although is there a reason he has hardly made the bench at all though this season when players as young as 16 have been regularly on our bench this season? - You can't compare players in that respect it is common sense that up until the Orient game when Thomas played we had more options at CB then we have had up front at any time during the season so of course a 16 year old will be thrusted in.

Seabourne and Webster, it would be insane to call either a success with the number of goals we continue to concede. Websters been here for 2/3 of a season and hasn't done what he was signed for, he's in his 30s and is only declining as a player - Webster you have point on but I think you're writing Danny off to early.

If Pressley told you his turd was a Lion bar would you eat it? I not having a go at Pressley for the work he has done for the team, just his work so far in the transfer market has been questionable at best.

As I just said about Urqhart he is a development squad player now if you look at the options for our strikers during the Orient game and Centre back for the same game tell me what you see.

Centre Backs: Willis, Seaborne, Webster, Jordan Clarke, Urqhart.

Strikers: Slager, Thomas.

Urqhart generally isn't needed at the moment and with players in front of him in the pecking order it's no wonder he isn't on the bench, I am a firm believer that Jordan Willis should be a regular starter for us in place of Webster.

With regards to Slager he featured in the Barnsley game and although he produced some fine touches and looked quick he needed to bulk up, now it is common sense to think that a Baker-Richardson or George Thomas will adapt easier to the demands of English Football, this is the only reason Pressley would of picked Thomas ahead of Slager, now I have wondered why he didn't decide to play Slager up top with him, maybe due to inexperience? I think it would have been worth a look to keep the balance between our midfield four.

That's a silly question but of course not. However I trust that SP will get it right, we needed experience at the beginning of the season and undoubtedly SP needed a player who he knew he could trust to help lead the young lions (Webster).

Like I said in another post I cannot see Webster being a regular next season if we want to push for Playoffs it will be Seaborne and Willis IMO.

Did we try to get Dragnall back?

Moses Odubajo and Chris Dagnall both scored as Orient ended a run of four league games without a win and leapfrogged Wolves on goal difference.
Orient started well and Odubajo reacted quickest to Dagnall's parried effort to score his ninth goal of the season.
And Dagnall soon doubled the lead when David Mooney pounced on an error and squared it for the striker to tap in.
