DL leaving will have an effect on the training and will effect certain ways they set up. But generally its a team shape when we haven't got the ball. So certain errors are just individual brian farts as they are still pretty inexperienced group at this level. Probably why Bidwell doesn't really make them, he put himself in good positions and does the basics of his job well.

Robins will get someone in before preseason and new and old players will adapt. Thomas and Kitching will be a better for all the experiences this season.

I heard he was leaving from someone at the Rotherham game. Also heard that Vivesh and Robbins are also pissed off. Apparantley there are one or two players messing up the dressing room (the Barnsley boys). I don't see the latter myself as I can't see Ady putting up with any shit.

Tbf, I was fortunate enough to have a beer with a few of them a while back, and I could quite well believe Kitching isn't the greatest of influences in the dressing room. Can't see it of Collins though, lovely chap just a shame he can't catch a ball

Binks will 100% be the first choice left sided centre half even when Kitchings suspension is up

I've stated before Robins is not impressed with what he's got for 4 million

Maybe, but getting shot of Kitching ain't going to be easy, we paid well over the odds for him. (Which I said at the time and got pilliored for)

No one made Robins sign him

Tbf I don't even think he's bad. Did we overpay? Possibly. But we have excellent LCB options in him and Binks now.

He was fine till his first red card then he went downhill. Needs confidence restoring.

Why is that obvious if he stuck with Kitching > Binks consistently for most of the season?

I get that Kitching was our player but with Binks making it obvious he wanted to come back and your intel in Jan… it’s not like there was an obvious advantage for favouring Kitching.

I’m curious as to what you’ve heard specifically on the matter.

Agreed. He was really good for a period, then not so much. But as I've said before, who was good towards the end of the season? It was a fucking shit show.

It's quite evident with the amount of times Kitching was hooked that his fitness levels weren't what they should be, along with his infuriating habit of being easily left for dead when a striker makes a run for a through ball

We know Robins is stubborn and he wasn't going to stick million on the bench

As I say, we will see in the next few weeks but it should become apparent

Or just needs to give his own head a good wobble. I have never believed he was totally innocent in that incident, just the way he walked with no protest like he was expecting it. He has shown numerous times he gets needlessly involved in petty stuff. Also Robins initially defended him, then the club took the decision not to appeal the decision once the dust settled?

I still think Kitching could still be a good player but needs to grow up. There is a big difference between thinking you are the hard man enforcer and actually being one. Not getting sucked in and provoked is part of it.

Kitching looked like the CB we’ve needed for years up until his loss of form at the end of the season. Strong, nasty and can pick a pass. He didn’t have pre season with us last season, and had an injury when he joined. He’ll be a big player this season.
Our fans….Once Haji and Simms delivered the goods, it was onto Dasilva and Kitching. The former was our best player in that rotten first 2 months of last season

Without too much detail how is kitching a bad influence? He seems fine on the pitch attitude wise

I don’t want to speak to soon because he could be a great player for us in time (maybe), but as soon as Kitching signed I thought he had L1 Maguire written all over him, looks a bit like him, similar sort of play style, bit of a slab about him, overhyped and I’m currently thinking we massively overpaid.

Obviously I could be very wrong but I really don’t see what all the fuss was about with Kitching.

I don’t know if Kitching has shown he’s a £4m centre back yet, but there’s still so much time. He’s also put in some fantastic displays, Sheffield Wednesday away (don’t remember which) where he was superb and covered for an underperforming Thomas throughout.

I find it weird how much stick Kitching gets (the red cards are frustrating) when Thomas is adored. To me they’re very similar. Young centre backs who are capable of putting in fantastic performances but make plenty of mistakes. They’re young and I’m sure they’ll learn and improve, I’m happy both are here, i just find it weird one is lauded as almost perfect and the other on the scrap heap

Barnsley made him club captain at 23. It could be that some people on here are just talking pap.

Kitching will be a top, top player. The difference between him and Thomas is that I think Kitching has plenty of development in him whereas Thomas already is what he is. Kitching has a great range of passing to. I don’t get what the problem people have with him is.

Very good Though I feel like I’m quite reasonable (maybe?), if Kitchingino was shit I think I’d say so. It’s just that all our European signings from last season have so far outperformed our non-European signings (bar Thomas), not much I can do about that

Fair enough, and maybe he’ll come good, it’s still early to say but so far I feel like he’s underperformed.
Also I’d say that being captain of Barnsley does not automatically mean top 6 quality in the championship, still time though.

The problem people have with him is they are leaning towards the price tag (4m if to be believed) and not the player. Much the same as Wright was written off (7-8M) before a ball was kicked.

NB I wasn't making any comment on quality - just stating that it didn't necessarily fit with the idea that he considered a 'bad influence'. Don't actually disagree with anything you've put there.

The reason Thomas is more adored by the fans is simple, he’s better.
• Doesnt get skinnned as much as Kitching
• Better aerially than Kitching
• Also played 1500 more minutes so a lot fitter
• So much better defensively in tackles, blocks, interceptions, clearances etc per 90
• Carries the ball a lot more but similar amounts of progressive passes and pass accuracy
• Also could you see Kitching scoring that goal like Thomas did at Leeds where he decided fuck it Im dragging us to a point here

I think we've got 3 top end Championship centre backs on our hands. One more in and we're in a great position at centre half.

Thomas reminds me a lot of Paul Williams. He became a fans favourite for his last ditch tackles and “putting his body on the line”. The problem was he only had to do that so often because he was terribly out of position. I see glimpses of it with Thomas.
