Can't believe Ricky Hatton has died, and only 46! A real gentleman and a great character.

Rip Ricky

Yeah. Just heard. Sad news.

As a side story, I know someone who actually met him. She was a make up artist on a film set. Said he was very nice.

I think it was only last year he announced he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
As for inspiration for AP that’s just my opinion.
Not sure if Coogan has ever cited him.

I always thought AP was a little bit of a lot of cheesy presenters David Coleman, Frank Bough, Alan Whicker, Russell Harty, Bob Monkhouse, Noel Edmonds, Wogan, Mike Morris, Nick Owen, Alan Titchmarsh, Richard Whitely, Richard Keys, and defo a lot of Richard Madeley.

Came across as a decent chap, pretty down to earth and a good journo. A real shame - didn't he do a stint on Central Weekend for a while?

I know we've all got to go sometime and without looking at his age I know he recorded a great innings but it's still a little sad when somebody associated to a sport or pastime that you enjoy has to leave.
He managed to be a character without ever trying. Courtesy largely of just being an occasional grumpy Yorkshireman.

Mrs Bucket. Don't know why but used to love that back in the day.

Can't imagine a kid sitting down to watch that nowadays.

I used to watch it too, but mainly because I knew where a lot of the places were. They filmed a lot in Leamington, Binley too, I think. Also around Canley, I seem to recall.
