Sad news. Although tbh, John Ashton is one of those I’d thought had died a while back.
Midnight Run is indeed brilliant.

In the mid 1970's at junior school during the lunchtime kick about, we would invariably be one of Cruyff, Krol, Rep, Rensenbrink or Neeskins.
And they finished runners up in 1974!
Nobody wanted to be the Germans.

Can't say I agreed with his politics, but couldn't argue with a guy who stuck by his principles.

RIP Alex Salmond.

I won't mourn him. Usually people only say nice things when someone dies, I always thought he was an absolute c**t. Astonishingly they somehow managed to replace him with someone even worse!

i usually sit up through the night when there's an important vote, like an election or referendum. i just find it interesting.
i'll always remember the scottish referendum. it wasn't even 2am when it was becoming clear the leave camp were going to lose. at which point salmon and sturgeon started to ask for another referendum.
they then spent years accusing the british government of ignoring the will of the people, which was actually exactly what they were doing themselves.

it's called democracy, guys. and whether you like the outcome or not, it's always more important than your own personal view.

that's my lasting memory of alex salmon.

Can't say I know much about him but young age and leaves kid(s) behind. What a waste. Seems to be in the news a lot with people falling off balconies in the non celebrity world, are people taking stronger/different drugs now?

I'm sure there is more coverage of Liam Payne dying than there was of the Queen when she died

BBC Breakfast have now been going on about it for about 15 mins non stop. Talking to his former teachers and his dance teacher and people from his childhood etc.

And the BBC news website yesterday had about 9 stories on it

I get it's so young to go and it's tragic, but does it warrant THIS level of coverage?

Maybe I'm missing something, but my missus and I didn't even know who he was.

Heard the name, but had no idea which band etc
