Herbie Flowers.
Great bassist, and such a range of music, from Sky to T Rex to Lou Reed to Clive Dunn, and hundreds in between.
Have a Tuba Smarties Herbie. A life well lived.

Joined the dark side.

I could have sworn he died last year or so as well. At first I thought I might have been mistaking him for David Prowse, but he died a few years ago now so don't think so.

He'll always be that played Alex Haley in Roots for me!
Aged around 20 at the time of viewing I didn't really have the slightest conception of what race was or Indeed what followed recently in the real world environment !

Absolutely spot-on, wingy! I was in my teens when that was on, and it was so enlightening. Brilliant TV!
My wife had a chef working for her who referred to a black kitchen porter - just once - as Chicken George. "Chef" didn't make it to the end of the shift!

They always mention Darth Vader but what about Mufasa in the Lion King? What a voice. Can't imagine Joe Pasquale voicing him!

Same here, Wingy. I'll always associate him with "Roots". I was in my mid 20's and had 3 kids by then!

It's amazing his epitaph doesn't have his seminal work list in the press, might get a mention in the passage eventually but not the point, take note all you reporter's.
Sad indeed 93 is no bad!
RIP Hopkirk!

Didn't he have a part in Coronation Street years ago? Maybe I'm thinking of someone else?

Just found this .....
A spokesperson for the soap said: “Kenneth's portrayal of Jed Stone, also known as Sonny Jim, on Coronation Street between 1961 and 1966 made him a firm favourite with the soap's fans. “He was a talented actor and writer and we were delighted when he agreed to reprise the role 42 years later in 2008.

So sad. What a fabulous actress. I always had the feeling she would never die, because she just seemed to keep going and going and going

Wil be very sadly missed.
