I was on holiday last week on a cruise and listening to the quiz whilst having a pint. One of the questions was what instrument did DE play? Poor bugger died the following day. Years since I heard his named mentioned so I think I might have put a curse on him.

Some of the best punk albums of the 21st century too - McLusky, Cloud Nothings, Metz

Been posted everywhere this week, but his pitch to Nirvana to work together on In Utero is fantastic if anyone hasn’t read it: I would like to be paid like a plumber

Good read. He didn’t really rate them either, once described them as REM with a fuzz box. They didn’t half make a good album though and Heart Shaped Box of the album is probably the finest single they ever released. Never tire of it and in my humble opinion it’s aged incredibly well.

I prefer Serve the Servants, personally.
Nevermind is essentially like a greatest hits album, but Bleach is seriously underrated.

Stand back Superman, Ice Man, Spiderman
Batman and Robin too
Don't wanna cause a ruckus, but B.A. Baracus
Have I got a match for you!
She makes them look like a bunch of fairies
She's got more bottle than United Dairies
Hang about! Look out! For Super Gran!

(Su-su-Super Gran! Su-su-Super Gran!)

You can take your heroes, your Robert De Niros
Your Al Pacino too
And big Stallone is just another phony
He couldn't lace her shoes!
After her, they're all big girls' blouses
She's got more front than a row of houses...
Hang about! Look out! For Super Gran!

His dad invented the Ifield pump, which was used in jet engines, given the time they were in Coventry I'm wondering if he knew Sir Frank Whittle and was involved in his work somehow.

A little before my time but as a kid I remember him more for the 'learn to swim' video than his Olympic Gold.

Slightly younger than me, but I still thought he was probably only around 60ish.
As fit as he must have been, and given his age, there's hope for me yet!

BBC News - Disney songwriter Richard M Sherman dies aged 95

Mary Poppins songwriter Richard Sherman dies aged 95

Richard Sherman composed scores for Mary Poppins and the Jungle Book, amassing Oscars and Grammy awards with his brother.
www.bbc.com

Funnily enough, I was thinking about him only a couple of days ago and was wondering if he was still alive.

Along with his brother, he created some of the very best songs of my childhood. Jungle Book and Mary Poppins, especially stand out.

RIP

Just read on the Coventry Live website, only 39. Not sure if he was a contributor on here, but big City fan and request for City shirts at his funeral.

I didn't know him personally, but awful news with a young family.

RIP in Sky Blue heaven and rest easy fella.

Awful disease, to see what it can do to a professional sportsman has increased awareness, hopefully research will find a way to stop it in its tracks. RIP

There was talk that some progress in finding a cure had been made, I think at Edinburgh University, but it's gone a bit quiet.

Hopefully they are in the process of getting somewhere, really horrible disease.

R.I.P. Rob Burrow
It's a horrible disease I had work colleague who had it, his decline and subsequent death was really rapid....first thing he/we noticed was he started slurring his speech.

saw that earlier. what a shame.
it takes some courage to have that disease and still put yourself in the public eye for the benefit of those that will follow.
