Wow! Duane Eddy only came to light with me in the mid '80's when the Peter Gunn theme was redone.
Loved his ringing, twanging, rock 'n' roll guitar playing.
Closest I came was seeing (by pure chance) Bert Weedon performing at a caravan park in Mablethorpe in 1983

Mere youngster you.Enjoy.He was a great guitar player who came to prominance in the late 50's with his unique twangy style. He used to come over with other American stars ie Roy Orbison, Ray Charles and Gene Pitney .We could go and see them at the Cov theatre. In the days when you got 3 of 4 acts cost you £5.Great times being in at the start of it all

Even if you've not heard of him, the name Duane Eddy just screams 50's Rock n Roll.

I was first in pubs on a Friday night as s 17 year old in 1989. Even then prices were relatively cheap. 4 pints of piss was generally our limit and could get those and chips to walk home with for £5.

Isn't he performing some sort of song and dance show at that Co-Op Live in Manchester. Sure I heard there was Diddley Squat on there.

Absolutely love 'In Utero'. Listening to it sounds like you're in the room as they play. All down to Albini's recording.

Could have sworn as a youngster that he was South African, which confused me how he had played in the Ryder Cup. But you live and learn - Dutch father hence the name, but English through and through. Six Ryder Cups! Died the day before his 76th birthday.
