Curse of the bass? Bryn Merrick a few years ago (and Lemmy!) Sensible and Paul Gray would do well to check for overhead grand pianos and anvils from now on.

Paul Gray had, or possibly still has, cancer!

Remember having a good old singalong with Rolf when I saw him at Glastonbury.
Belting out 2 little boys a particular low point in hindsight.

I got woke up by him.

Glasto being Glasto I’d only got my head down a few hours before and remember waking up in a tent to the sound of that nonce on a boiling hot day.

Pretty sure it was a Sunday and he was first on at midday but my recollection of that weekend is a little hazy.

Still a surreal moment of my life.

Me too. Wasn't there a few people dressed as kangaroos on pogo sticks bouncing along the pit in front of the stage?
Or had I over done the truffles that year?

Raul Torras Martinez. Won’t be known to many but he is Spains fastest ever road racer. Died at the Isle of Man TT this evening.

Depends how you look at it. They know the risks but they also know the highs. It’s the ultimate test of man and machine and there’s no other place in the world where you can reach 200mph on public roads or indeed I think I’m right in saying on a “normal” race track with the possible exception of the Nurburgring. They’re a special breed but they all get scared and nervous before a race which is why I personally don’t think you can say they’re mental. It’s human nature for many to seek out the ultimate thrills and get the ultimate buzz.

You’d be surprised. Road racing tends to be a family affair. Many of the current riders are second or third generation of road racers. The whole family go to meetings together and all those families are one big close friend group. Michael Dunlop who is currently second in the all time list at the TT has lost his uncle, father and brother in racing incidents on the road. The idea of giving up isn’t in his mentality, indeed he won his first race as a senior the day after his dad lost his life at the same event. It can be a cruel sport for sure and any deaths will be mourned but everyone involved understands what they’re getting into at the offset.
