Must have hit a Hot Spot.

Edit: He was a talented guy, having a whole list of ‘interests’ and shows.

Shame about Paul O'Grady, always thought he came across well. Funny bloke but also compassionate not just about dogs but people too. R.I.P.

Hadn't he had numerous heart attacks in the past?

His Battersea programme has been our Xmas dinner TV show for years.

Real shame he's gone. R.I.P

Really shocked at the outpouring on here, most death are onto a joke by the second post. Definitely a shame but was he really such a national treasure? Bang average middle of the road performer imo. RIP all the same.

To be fair posts 3 and 4 after the initial one announcing his death contained attempts at a wisecrack, admittedly fairly feeble attempts.

I didn't find him that funny, but he was a very good host and performer, it has to be said.

Not sure I want him to be a national treasure to be honest. Remember Glitter, Savile, Stuart Hall, Rolf Harris etc.

Called the Tories “Bastards” live on television so will always stand high for me. Compassionate bloke and an avid campaigner for animal rights. RIP.

I got called out for making a pun about about a celebrity who died the other week too when I'm blatantly not the only one who does it - so much virtue signalling on this forum

Gets a huge boost of admiration from me for his animal protection work. Quite shocking that someone like that has gone so suddenly. Swear I saw him doing an interview somewhere the other week.

Very unlike you Tony to look to try and look for an angle to turn something into a political football ... oops sorry, football is the one thing you don't post on. As you were.

Will always remember where I was when I found out that Lily Savage was a bloke in drag. I won’t really. I was fooled as a kid though.

O’Grady seemed the type to just have funny bones, not that I always laughed.

Ah yes, that new concept of have a pop at the Tories by a rich celebrity 'comedian' for cheap laughs. Hopefully Ben Elton and Stewart Lee aren't too many steps behind Lily.

Oh, you mean when you took the piss out of a man who died of a cerebral aneurysm?

In fairness to him and I dont know either of you, we can't pick and choose which diseases that people die of to get offended by.

Cancer is very close to my heart with loss of lots of family and friends over the years, but we either have a line that it's acceptable to joke about or we don't and I'm fine with cancer jokes and woudl expect my mates to take the piss if I had it, in fact I'd be disappointed if they didnt. The only subject (for me personally) that's off limits and I'd call people out on, would be childrens deaths as no parent should lose a child and even there it's a fine line as I've laughed at and made reference to Maddie McCann.

Interesting take, and I've definitely joked about cancer a lot. I've also heard (and laughed to) so called jokes about The ripper, Brady and Hindley, and countless other atrocities.

Death by suicide is the rubicon I'd struggle to cross. I can't find anything even remotely funny in that.
