I already know what half this board's reaction will be...

However, is it possible for a player to have two such opposite performances so close together? A week or so ago, and it looked like giving Dabo proper time to recover had allowed him to get back into a position where he was the Dabo we all know he can be. As his confidence increased during the game he was getting more dynamic, pushing at the opposition, driving forward, and solid defensively.

And then there was Blackpool...

First half as bad as any performance I can remember recently. Just about every thing he did went wrong. What you can't say is he was rushed as he was rested last game.

So, what's the issue? Confidence? Does he let a mistake get to him? Does he need to make a good play to gain that confidence to get into the game? Is he still not fully fit / out of the rhythms of games? What is it that allows him to play as badly as Saturday?

I mean, even his harshest critic can surely see he has the talent and the tools (he's shown that only recently when he was light years ahead of Norton-Cuffey and Burroughs), and he has shown it in this division when he's been fit, but what stops him kicking on?

Weird isn't it. As Gordon Strachan would put it, from world beater to carpet beater.

He's just not very good and people need to face that

From a standing start a winger with a bit of pace seems to skip past him too easily. Dabo seems to have to be able to outfox his opponent, whether defending or attacking (as per that time he got his shot away at the end of the first half. leading to Hamer's corner we scored from). The other issue is his distribution, which was very poor in the first half; he's not usually that poor.

But that'sclearly not true. His best is light years ahead of any other RWB we've played there this season.

Confidence can't be an issue. I just don't think he's a very good footballer for the level we now play at.

Then how does he manage to turn out terrific performances? If he didn't have it in him, then they wouldn't appear at all.

And the Blackpool game wasn't just mediocre, it was truly shocking sub non league stuff in the first half. That wasn't the performance of a League One player at the limit of his ability either.

I don’t think next seasons RWB is at the club yet, Dabo has always been suspect defensively with the ball over the top but he is a favourite of us all, as for Cuffey I’m getting to like him he’s a bit unorthodox but has improved since he came here, would I sign him up full time not sure, there’s better more established ones who will be available loan or permanent.

Love Dabo but he’s probably league 1 standard. RWB is a major priority for the recruitment team in the summer.

He was absolutely rubbish in the first half, BUT it was his run and shot which resulted in the corner that Hamer scored from.

If all RWB options are fully fit then he's the pick of the bunch for me

'His best'

Why do we only see 'his best' one or 2 games a season?

He's a top end L1 player in my eyes, the Shipley of his position

If we want to progress we need better its that simple

I agree, and I'm huge fan, but he's too inconsistent and too injury prone, (the former probably a symptom of the latter).

I think we need an upgrade in the summer, and not a wet behind the ears Premiership loanee.

Maybe confidence in his body as much as anything. When you keep breaking down as a player it’s got to play on your mind.

I’m with you, I think if he can stay fit, he’s the best we’ve got. I was chuffed for him against Hull, really did appear to be back to his best

Saturday was an absolute shocker. As much so as it followed 2 very good performances from him.
Burroughs also had an off day the game before on the back of some good outings.
This leaves BNC who you just never know what he's going to do but for me blows cold more that hot.

I suspect that regardless of what we saw Saturday, he'll start the next game. He is probably the top of the list when it comes to free passes. I also think he'll be given a new contract which IMO is the wrong decision for the club going forward. Regarding the two performances where he was back to his best, he looked great against Huddersfield but I don't think he was asked too many questions by the opposition but Hull seemed solid enough.

He doesn't come across as someone that doesn't have confidence in himself but he just doesn't have the pace to play there at a top level. When up against faster players I think he looks lost.

Think it was more just concentration on Saturday from Dabo. Passing was just poor. Got done a few times by the winger but that can happen. Don't think he looks as unfit as a couple of months ago

Dabo doesn't strike me as someone who is really a confidence player, and think he just has lapses in concentration or he's being let down by his body after all the injuries.
Looked really good the previous two games and his movement was a lot better than earlier this season, but obviously didn't have a great game at Blackpool.

Is he out of contract in the summer? I'd honestly give him another year, and maybe another loanee in that position so he's not being rushed back into the team again

That is Dabo all over. Lacks consistency and hamstrings made of glass. The return is too unpredictable. I am sure we can find better.

When he plays he is usually the worst player in the back 5. Certainly if I'm looking at it from an opposition point of view, his position would be where you would target.

He's been poor for the best part of two years and anyone getting excited about two 60-odd-minute performances where he looked a bit better need to look at the bigger picture. I think some get sentimental about him, which I can understand. If we want to move forward however, we need to move him on.

I think with dabo you also have to factor in some talk bollocks tax on this forum .. often criticised when he's nowhere near as bad as some suggest .. he actually did have a poor first half saturday though .

Remember , todd kane is better , who now plays his football at charlton

Fitness and injury issues catching up with him unfortunately. Such a shame as in league one he barely missed a minute and was quite clearly far too good for that level.

Worth another year. Such a specialist position and would be difficult to get much better if I’m honest. We’ve already tried.

He’s got a very inconsistent first touch and against teams that press him he loses that 0.5 a second and looks rushed. He’s also not very agile, which might be his injuries or just a consequence of being injured - too bulky from the time spent in the gym when injured. He looks slow over a couple of yards from a standing start because of it and clumsy around the penalty area. He needs an extended injury free period where he can play every week, get 90 minute match fit and lose some of the muscle mass. Whether his body will allow that and whether he can get that in an upper table Championship side I’m not sure.

Why do so many posters word things as if they definitely know & then jump to conclusions straight after based on their wild guesses?
