if we were looking to sign him in January, how much do you think he would cost? Forest paid a million for him not too long ago - but I couldnt imagine us spending more than £100,000 on anyone at the moment?

1 in 5 won't even land 10 goals this season. With money at a premium we can't afford to waste it on a very average record-however, Thorn tends to favour attributes over statistics, so maybe he'll fit in better here (if he signs).

Maybe scores 1 in 5 but how many of them were sub appearences, he was always on the bench for Forest whenever ive seem them play. Would be a good signing at this level and having Mcdonald, Ball, Elliott and Mcgoldrick gives us lots of options which we will need during the season.

Only 24 ,pacy , played at a higher level .Will do for me , adds some more depth to the squad .

Does this mean Jeffers out on loan and Rod out the door ?

Some clueless people on here! In the season when Southampton went down he was their top scorer (ok only scored 14), playing attacking midfield aswell as up top. After that he never really got a chance an has made the majority of his appearances as a sub. With a full season in league one the lad could be good, he'll be 25 before christmas so way past being a 'kid' IMO.

It looks as if his contract runs out at the end of the season so I doubt it will be a season-long loan unless Forest are looking to give him a new contract, can see it being a loan until jan and an option to buy or just a straight buy-out now..

He hasn't got real pace and isn't a target man. He's another striker that doesn't score many. Generally considered a bit rubbish by Forest fans. :thinking about:

Forest fan here. Mcgoldrick is;

Not a Target Man
Not Fast
Not a Goal Scorer

But He's looked sharp this pre-season so he might actually become good with you lot.

We've been linked to him in the past too I think, I would welcome him, not all about goals too, he can score just one goal all season but aslong as he assists Cody' rise until January then who'll care?

If he has pace he could be useful for giving us another attacking dimension. If he doesn't have pace, then...

YES PLEASE! Pace, at last. He was a well-documented Coleman target when Thorn was scout, so this makes some sense.

Pretty sure this guy is Lacey and can play on wing too.
Would love to attract a premiership loan signing of Norwood's quality, but this is more the type of transfer I expect

Dang, if only we can snap up Cagney as well, we'll have a great double act! Sorry...

My mate who is a saints season tkt holder said he has no pace, can't score goals etc. I asked what kind of a player he was he said nobody every knew!

But he did score 40 odd goals in a season for them for the u21 team apparently

I remember him having pace, but then it may have just seemed that way against the ageing likes of Hall & Wright at the time...

I've just turned on the oven to bake a humble pie, Brighton.

Will you be wanting cream or custard?

Note I acknowledged Thorn's prodigious eye for talent in the latter half of that post.

Due deference that mitigates the balance of your assertion

Well none of us had anything to go off except his record to date good chap. You could've picked a better example-though I doubt Fergie would've been any help.

Even Fergie missed this hidden goalmeister. Further proof that Thorn had the upper hand on the tomato-nosed Scotsman...
