Ohh dear. What can you say. Was really hoping we would see a new David Bell this season.

Only one game in of course but this was the same old David Bell. Think I counted 4 times where he was caught in possession. He was slow sluggish and had very little impact on the game apart from that one cracking long shot in the first half.

Very disappointed with him today and we cannot afford him to go into hiding yet again. Think there is only one player who is more frustrating than Bell and that is Freddie Eastwood. Both players have bags of skill and all the attributes to be decent footballers. They both let themselves down badly at times.

From the sublime to the ridiculous. If I was AT I would be giving him a big kick up the jacksy. Very disappointing.

I think McSheffrey was much worse. Although Gail and Clingan did over shadow them!

Just needs to play further up IMO. All three midfielders today tried to play the same game and it left us short of options going forward. That's the one thing you can say for McSheff in the hole is that at least it gives us a link between midfield and attack.

Would say that Sheff did nothing. nothing good and nothing bad. He was just anonymous. I counted 4 times where Bell got caught in possession and he also played one or two shocking passes to boot. This is a guy who is supposed to make a midfield tick. Today he just looked disinterested.

And it's not the first time that's been labelled at him.

I would have marked Sheff lower marks than Bell, but that still doesn't excuse him.

Bell didn't do anything today. He did nothing defensively or offensively productive. He just took the ball and moved it on with a simple 3 yard pass. Not good enough for a player who is meant to be creating goalscoring chances for us.

Both Sheffers and bell were poor neither have an impact in the final third.

Agree with that. As I say, you would hardly have known McSheff was playing today. He did nowt!

I don't know what game you were (and it seems everyone else) watching, I thought bell looked good, nice link up play, a very decent shot first half. I have never rated Bell but today I thought he did well. Mcsheffrey was atrocious, did absolutely nothing. Everyone else did quite well, without anything brilliant. Clingan needs to pass it short more though rather than going for the killer ball. I think bigi is more than capable of picking the lock of any defence and Sammy should realise that and give him the ball a little more!

Bell wasn't match fit, but there wasn't really anyone else. Maybe Thomas, but thats 2/3 CM positions as kids. You just can't do that.

Sheff, and indeed everyone apart from Sammy, did not look match fit. If it's one player, he's lazy..if it's the entire bloody squad bar the skipper, you have to point the finger at the management. AT is notoriously relaxed about fitness and conditioning training, as he is discipline in general, the other end of the spectrum to Boothroyd. Wasn't our (part-time) fitness coach on CWR last night saying they "didn't really do any running" in preseason?!? My, you would never have guessed from that showing..it was like they were wading through mud by the end, whilst the side with 10 men for 40 minutes had loads more left in the tank than we did.

You thought Bell looked good? What game were you watching? He got caught in possession on at least 3 occasions. Pretty sure it was 4. When he is on form i really like the guy. Today he was nowhere near like on form. Besides that shot he pretty much well did nothing.

I have also to ask who is this "all it seems everyone else" in terms of watching the game? Scroll through the threads. Plenty of people saying Bell was disappointing and marking him as 5 out of 10.

As I already have said, McSheffrey was anonymous. I too would have given Bell 5 out of 10 and McSheff 4 out of 10 because he did absolutely nothing at all.

Sorry don't understand the second part of that, all I said was that it seems to be the general consensus that Bell had a bad game? I on the other hand thought he played quite well, he was lively, looked so much better than at other times, maybe he was caught out in possession but he had A LOT of the ball in the first half and was our only real threat.

Well he did have the best shot of the game for sure.

The reason I am so disappointed in him is because I keep hearing things from managers and coaching staff saying stuff like "you just watch him go." Think Ranson said that very same thing before the beginning of last season. The coaching staff keep saying what a great player he is and how skillful he is and how he has the ability to run a midfield.

As I have said on another thread, the fact is he has one great game in about every 5 matches. There is no consistency with him. We need a big season from him. I remain unconvinced we are going to get it.

Bell did have a bad game, this game was a non drinking one for me and trust me he was poor,I hope he forgets it and gets back on track.
Sheffers was bad and also Clingan was below par,the only ones who stood out were Bigirimana,Christie and Keogh

Bigirimana looked our best player to be honest. Juke did well as well. The general opinion, even amongst the Leicester fans is that Bigirimana looks a really good player. He'll probably be sold for a bag of jelly babies and some chocolate coins this week.

Lets start with McSheffrey,he worked his bits off today but with him Juke playing so far apart, he did not get any real service.
Defence, festers only 2 chances came when Keogh didn,t win the ball when crossed in , 1hit the post 2,goal.
We need to sometimes take a risk instead of always playing the easy pass, Hussey had many chances to bomb forward but pass inside.
Not picking on him others were guilty of this. End of the day not that bad a performance just lacked the final ball.

Have to just say that's not quite right about the 2 chances. Nugent also missed a sitter in the second half just on the six yard box where he completely miss-hit is and the ball screwed wide and Matt Mills also had a great chance just on the six yard box from a corner but he miss-hit that one too. Both excellent chances.

Sheff looked unfit and over weight, him and other fans have wanted him to be in that position for ages and today he got the chance and it was what I thought would happen, it just gave him an excuse to be lazy and go missing! Bell pulled out of tackles, loss possession and didn't have the confidence to take the chances given to him except one. Another one to mention was Baker, before he made that stupid decision to foal the player in an area that posed no danger and was going no where was also very poor, crosses weren't accurate and he didn't have any engine. Other than that the rest of the team did rather well it's just a shame we don't have another striker to put away that final ball.

Bell's shot was fantastic today and he really deserved a goal, but he did fade in the second half, but then again most of them did. I like Bell.

I think that's a little over the top. No, he wasn't at his best, but I'm sure he didn't go out there today intending to have a poor game. He's one of the senior pros now and I think he'll need to step up to the plate a little this season and show us more of what he showed last season. He's real class on his day.

Overweight or not, he was miles off the pace today. Rarely got involved and never looked a threat. I do prefer him on the tip of the diamond when we eventually get another option to replace him up top. Not his fault, can't always be good, but highlighted because we created so little. Today wasn't his day.

Thought Bell was lacking match fitness/sharpness due to not playing pre-season. Macca may as well of not been there!

Difficult for McSheffrey....he has been accustomed to playing just behind the front two but now he is playing up front. He lacks the pace to play on the flank and doesn't have the impact as an orthodox forward. Today he played for the team in a position that didn't suit him and it showed

McSheffrey. wanted to play up front but needs to play next to a centre forward, but for what ever reason he and juke played to far apart, they never played near each other. I don't know whos fault that was, the players or manager, but stop slagging mac off he did not stop running and is not over weight (pathetic comment)

Mcsheffery was awful, he had about 10 touches all game and I don't remember touching the ball for the first 30 mins. Bell was not much better

McSheffrey is not an out-and-out forward, so no surprises that he struggled.

Also don't forget we were playing one of the favourites for the League.

Personally I'm glad we didn't get a damm good thrashing, because that would have pitched us into trouble straight away.

David Bell was probably a little off the pace as he came back from a week's injury layoff, he looked better in pre-season, but that was against the likes of Hinckley & Nuneaton.

And just what alternative is there, none, thats right none, and the idiot Baker boy is out now for a while.
