Skysports.com understands a number of clubs are eyeing moves for former Portsmouth striker Danny Webber.
Webber is available on a free transfer after seeing out his contract at Fratton Park.

The former Manchester United
man is back to full fitness almost a year after suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in March 2010.
Webber featured for Portsmouth at the back end of last season, making eight appearances in the side.
News of Webber's availability on a free transfer has alerted a number of Championship clubs who are looking to bolster their attacking options this summer.

This wouldn't be to shabby a move and as Freebies go he is better than most. I look at the fact we need a bit of experiance to help juke, who in everyones opinion will have a great year. He still needs to learn, he picked up a lot from playing alongside MK and IMO needs that guiding influence for the next year at least.

Finally someone who's being slightly realistic with regards to the ambitions of the club.
Webber is probably the level of player we realistically need to be looking at and is probably in our wage structure as portsmouth can not be able to offer players better wages than us. He also comes across as a player with a point to prove as he has gone missing the past 3 years or so. Not going to replace marlons goals though so would still need to bring another striker in in my opinion.

Danny Webber is bad, a goal ratio of 1 in 5 through out his whole career amasses to a huge 9 goals in over a 46 game season

Always seemed to play well against us. Sure I can remember him banging a few in.

Might be worth a dabble on a free if he still has his pace.

I'd say that 9 goals from a free transfer would be a good return compared to our previous strikers' contributions over the past 5 years, King excluded. Saying that, the stat's based on him playing every game and Webber hasn't really been at his best for ages now, probably not worth it compared to other potential targets

And i dont rate Webber, and agree that hes no better than Freddy. Freddy has better record i would imagine, and id rather see him in a City shirt than Webber!

Could come good if given the games. If we sign a 15-20 goal a season striker then i'd take webber.

Hmn, Webber desperatley needs to prove he's worthy of playing football for a living after years of injury and needs a platform to do so: nothing wrong with offering him such if it's free, providing the wages suit the pay structure (ie: a balti pie, free programme and a badge with an elephant on it).

I think the badge should be conditional based on appearances.

Yea that is assuming he plays 46 games per season, even if he was first choice he would get maybe 30-40 games per season he would get around 6-8 goals probably, we could do much better than Danny Webber. Back when he was a decent player his best goalscoring tally was like 12 or something. I would prefer us to go for someone in the lower divisions than this guy seriously
