This is a refreshing extract from some comments by the Lincoln manager posted on one of their fans forums

'How good it is that we have a manager that does not make excuses and gives credit where credit is due. Danny thought we played against the best team we had seen this season. The first half went well, played to their game plan and Rheady was a real handful. Good value for lead.

- Second half we didn't do the basics well enough and got overrun in midfield. Jodi Jones is the best player in this League and was a threat all day. They brought on Nazon and from then on we were on the back foot, he changed the level of threat with more athleticism, pace and power'

I guess Cowley's understanding of football carries more weight than a number of posters on this forum who seem to have a different opinion of our side and the individual players

I completely agree about Jones. He is the best player in this league but other teams know it so he always has multiple men on him. Sometimes this makes it difficult for him to influence games and when this happens we sometimes don't seem to have the personnel or tactics to overcome it. We need a similar type on the opposite wing.

Which is why Duck coming on set him free. They kept Jones quiet first half, but had no answer when there was another threat.

Read the threads, you will see my views and what I've said about it all. It's almost as if you haven't got a reply so have to scramble to get something.

The people that don’t rate Jones are probably the same people that didn’t rate Maddison (excelling in the championship) and Murphy (Started in the premier league against Man Utd yesterday).

Personally I don’t think Jones is on the same level as the other two but he is very able in league 2 and probably would step up to league 1 if he can take us there.

The thing is, cowley commented on one game. Some games Jones is unplayable, some he stands about not bothered. There's nothing wrong with pointing that out.

Yesterday in the first half he didn't do much, got bullied and wasn't in the game. Second half he was more direct and things opened up for him and he had space, they had bookings so he could do more.

He finished well for his goal and it was a good run for nazons.

Maybe it's just watching him every week, have seen him have much better games than that.

I havnt seen many games this season when i didnt think we were the better side even the ones we lost, if and a pretty big if right now, we could provide and finish we would be clear top of the league and looking like the best team in the league, which we undoubtably are

Jones unfortunately is another player who doesn’t do it over 90 minutes every game. But then how many players do?

On his day he’s a world beater. In the first half yesterday he almost looked to doubt his own ability early on after being beaten for pace

But then second half I don’t know if it was the team talk that inspired him but something clicked and suddenly he realised he beat his man if he wanted to, and he did it time and time again.

Very impressive and honest view from Cowley. Certainly looks to be one of the good guys in the business and has done excellently for Lincoln to get them where they are and playing the standard they played at yesterday
