I think we need that kind of signing more than Hughes tbh.

Get them both, why not. Be ambitious spend serious money on 2/3 players, it won’t bankrupt the club like some clowns reckon on here and if we go up we’ll have millions of pounds and if we somehow stay in the champ we’ll have 2 solid players to go again

Wouldn’t be opposed, but think Hughes money (or what Hull think he’s worth), better spent elsewhere!

Hughes can maybe be one for when we get promoted then, get him and rushworth in as a start

Not happening. I think he stays at Sunderland at least until the end of the season whilst he’s got even a sniff of premier league football. Sunderland have players going away this month as well, and a couple of injuries.

I agree with all of this Tommo, in Rudi’s defence I do believe he’s not back in his full rhythm yet, but being able to have Torp push forward and have that competition in the 10 would be brilliant.

Granit Xhaka has taken his place and isn't letting it go. Bloke's hardly played this season and needs game time.

He’s in his last 6 months of contract at Sunderland.. so I imagine they want to get a decent fee for him now rather than let him go for free

With the amount of people saying they've apparently heard something, I'm confident this isn't happening.

WBA and Leicester reportedly in for him. We are a more attractive club in terms of the likelihood of us getting promoted but I wonder if they may offer higher salaries.

I suppose any gap could be bridged with a bonus for promotion or an automatic salary increase when we go up

Spoke to a couple of Sunderland fans I know. They don’t rate him. Say he looks tidy enough but that he can’t make enough progressive passes and just turns round and plays it back far too often. Le Bris obviously doesn’t see him as PL level. He’s hardly had a sniff this season. Clearly just opinions but I’m not sure he’s what we’re looking for.

Both got significant financial issues. Leicester are struggling to pay salaries for the month. I know there a rival but sad really as the previous owners son wants to own it for his dad but doesn’t want to put money in.
WBA still trying to avoid PSR rules from previous owners mess.

Big difference though no? Grimes would still have been first choice if he hadn’t have left. Neil can’t get a game. It’s not sour grapes. The guys I know are basically saying they can see exactly why he isn’t getting a game in the prem.

It’s reported that they both want him on loan. I’m not sure that this would suit Sunderland though, as he is out of contract in the summer.

Well Dan Neil is trying to get into a team currently 6th in the premier league. You can’t compare

I’d take him if we need to offer him 3 years to do so so be it
We can always sell him in the summer or loan him out

His contract is up at the end of the season, so a loan till then makes sense, it gives him a chance to get game time, and help us get over the line, while keeping every sides options open.

People are constantly eyeing Sunderland and thinking it’s where we hope to be this time next year. Boys I was talking to were saying they reckoned Neul clearly wasn’t good enough for the Prem and it was obvious to them he’d be replaced. Before anyone knew how well they’d start.

I agree that a loan would be ideal for us but, as I posted before, I can't see how this suits Sunderland so it's probably buy or nothing. I think he would be a good addition to the squad but our resources aren't unlimited and arguably we have more pressing needs in other positions.

He's ok at Championship level so loan might be an alright signing for the remainder of the season, but if we do go up I'd be worried that Sunderland don't believe he's up to the PL should we sign him permanently.

doubt we’ll be signing Neil, don’t need another defensive midfielder who’s going to sit on the bench just in case grimes gets injured , we need a couple of grimes level signings that will make us even better,
