When I read about a Nuneaton poker player wanting to take over CCFC I thought to myself "my old mate Dale will find this interesting" imagine my surprise when I found out it was him! He's a lovely guy and he seems convinced by it all, (pretty sure he lives in suffolk but what do reporters now eh?) He was however fond of a tall tale or two when I knew him (my mum used to call them Dale Tales as there were quite a few) I sincerely wish him the best of luck with it all though and I will be following it all with interest along the way. He has a sensible family and I'm sure they will keep him in check if he gets over his head.

Wankers , the lot of them.

I think when it gets to start harassing families etc it is way over the line. Not just with him but anybody, whether it's Hoffman, Elliott, Fisher, Waggot, Onye, Duggins etc etc. Hassling their wife and family is bang out of order.

I disagree with a lot of people but would never dream to start giving their families shit because of their views on CCFC. It ends with them and even if it was somebody I didn't agree with ever and their families got shit I'd fully back them if I could.

If , as we all hope it does, come to fruition , we will probably find any cash input from him would have been added to the last bid from Hoffman, pushing it over the line.

The problem here is we are judging each case from the past.
I wish he would shut his mouth though to be honest.!!!
That does not mean I don’t believe him. Just that it is so stupid to mouth off.
Regarding SISU. If it is not this bid.
Then one day it has to be another. If you are not prepared to invest for success eventually you will always have to accept a bid.

You got me! No just thought i would share it with you because the whole thing is quite amazing and that he is no hard nosed poker player but a normal person. Definitely doesnt deserve criticism from facebook but i just hope he isn't getting carried away after a bit of a win and getting people like yourselves too excited. If someone from round here won 17 million on poker news of it would have travelled quickly within our circle of friends. The fact that no one i know had heard of it before sunday makes it all seem a little strange but only time will tell!

I think it was fine to question him on Facebook. It was entirely wrong though to give him dogs abuse and be insulting.

I questioned him myself. I was polite though and just tried to ask the right questions. Too many people coming flying in with abuse, which adds nothing to any debate.

I don't know much about poker, but would it not show the results online from tournaments?

On here : Darren Elias Seeks Record Fourth WPT Title in Bestbet Bounty Scramble

Thats about a win of $315k, surely if it was £10m it would be mentioned somewhere about the tournament etc?

Seems to be the figure he is saying, spoke to him a few months ago and he didn't mention it at all! Must have been a very recent win but its all a bit mysterious bearing in mind even a small win gets round in small villages

1) The deal is ‘on’ but they’re still awaiting SISU’s response....
2) “Royton”

The ones about his interview? I like how you act as if I am the only person who thought it was a little bit silly and lots of it didn't get disproved straight away.

I just hope he isn't going to get stuck as a frontman like Michael Orton did that time.

I did speak to him this week mainly to ask the simple question why the fuck are you saying you are buying CCFC? He's quite insistent hes won 17 million and thats what he wants to do! He won it playing poker and thats the story hes sticking to, like i said news of money spreads like wildfire through small villages and everyne i know is surprised as I am! Hope he has though he still owes me a fiver...

So it's all over social media tonight that it's happening, a close friend of Dales has said 2 weeks and Dale Evans has claimed a fee has been agreed.

I don't know what to bloody believe anymore, if this is all a hoax he's going to have made a lot of people angry

Got a message off a mate out of the blue half hour ago saying he’s with Dale Evans now and
The deal is done, more info will be forthcoming as soon as is legally possible.
I’m gonna wait and see

I'll consider it bollox until proved otherwise. It's my safe position and one that I won't be disappointed from. As always it's hope for the best, expect the worse and take what comes!

It's all available online. If he's won it online he'd be ranked and stats available (also multiple wins to achieve). If it was live poker the WSOP main event champion doesn't win that much and the final table doesn't take place until November. I can't completely discredit his net worth but I can tell you 100% he didn't win it at poker or I would have known about it.

A lot of nonsensical ranting going on at the moment on the Facebook ‘Coventry City fans forum’ group.

For those unfamiliar it’s a private group with about 7k people in it.

Either way there’s various characters at the moment abusing Dale Evans saying he’s full of shit with no proof and then various other people abusing the abusers saying they’re mates with dale and it’s defintley happening tonight.....The group is usually best served for funny pictures of Tim Fisher or highlights and just about that really...

Well no it obviously can’t be done dusted & signed off that quickly, but an agreement
Could have been reached, which if true would be a massive milestone.

So let me see if I am getting this...
A guy who won £17m playing poker is going to buy our football club which has little to no assets, no stadium and is in need of major investment just to improve it's current standing? I see.
But then what?

I pray the agreement part is true even if his wealth is complete fabrication. It would at least tell us that they are willing to go and the price at which that could be achieved.

Mate called me out of the blue, he’s with The Bloke now and it’s apparently happening now,
I’ve known him a long time & he’s a massive City fan, he’s never given me any reason to
Doubt him.
