This all sounds like stalemate anyway doesn't it! Sisu want a share in the ownership of the stadium and apparently if word is right the council and other parties involved do not wish to sell it to them!
If the council put a poll out to all the house holds in coventry asking if they should sell the stadium to sisu, what do u think the overriding outcome would be? From what I can gather it would be a solid "no", at the moment anyway. Therefore it would surely be political suicide for them to sell! This mite be why sisu want the population to like them, as they have realised without the people of coventry behind them, the council won't sell!
That may not necessarily be the case. There is entirely the possibility that in this time of cuts to public services due to the deficit reduction programme, some Coventry residents could have a fit if they thought a great deal of money was being "wasted" on a mere stadium, which serves little public function other than hosting entertainment and business events!
a very civilised thread with some good points made.
The reality is that the fans will soon forgive SISU if the team starts winning. That is the nature of footy fans the world over.
Do they know what it takes for that to happen? I doubt it and this is my main criticism of their ownership. Unlike many I do not expect the board to either communicate with fans or to be completely honest. When has that ever happened? Never as far as I can recall. But if they are going to run a football club they should know something about football.
In my opinion it is impossible to make any money out of football without destroying the club and that was why I was so against SISU from the outset. The only reason they are in it is to make a profit. You cannot get upset about it - they have never pretended otherwise.
But the only way they can get their money out is 1. for someone to buy the club or 2. buy a controlling interest in the stadium so that the club debt can be transferred to the stadium. ie they borrow against the stadium and pay off their creditors - themselves. There is a 3 but it is so far fetched as to be laughable - get into the premier league.
I think the Hoff ship has sailed, sadly. He said they are waiting on administration which a can't see happening (fortunately).
I think we are just going to plough on with what we've got. Even if it's not good enough. We as fans will always, no matter what the level, aspire for better. It's just the nature of sport and there's nothing wrong with that.
Thought it was a thoughtful article until the last sentence prediction!
That says Moxley believes we will go down. Think we will prove him wrong.
I must say there are very few sports writers who never get anything correct and are forever back tracking what they have said earlier.
</p>well thanks for the hope then chap
