I can't believe the criticism aimed at Dabo as I saw the match and felt he was actually let down by MR. I am not a person who would ever protect a player just because he is one of the best we have, and I don't believe anyone is above criticism. Likewise I rarely have a go at MR because he and his team constantly deliver more than we could ever hope for, but yesterday we had only one defender on the bench. Dabo looked like he pulled a muscle in the second half but we didn't have a replacement and he won't play Reid because he isn't ready. Dabo has had quite a few injuries and is always rushed back because he is always needed. Yesterday we saw a star in the making with the Derby youngster and I think people should 'rate' player's match participation with how much they put in and not how the opposition are. Dabo showed commitment and anyone marking the youngster would have had a torrid time.

It wasn't just the full back. Each of their players took turns to go past him.

Yeah he probably should have come off but it was happening every time in the first half too.

Defo looked like pulled a muscle and even of didn't is not in his specialist position.

Was terrible but hey we won so MR doesn't really need to answer to us I guess

Dabo should have been replaced by Reid as soon as he went down injured.

His worse ever performance for us, and I’m including in that the day he scored 2 ogs away at Oxford!

was the perfect opportunity to see Reid for 30 minutes yesterday, not sure what that says about him?? Or just that Dabo is MR favourite player

Hopefully the injury isn't too serious. It looked like groin and if so I don't think he would have been able to continue if it was a bad one. He was still able to twist and turn later in the game. I hope Robins wouldn't have kept him on if there were major concerns. The Derby player would have given anyone a hard time but I didn't think Dabo adjusted quickly enough. He was square on showing him down the line rather than dropping a little to encourage him inside where he would have been crowded out. They managed that better in the second half.
I feel for him having to play out of position at CB and LWB and that is partly due to the form of Kane. However, he seems to be struggling somewhat at the moment. I think Reid should have been brought on as although inexperienced it would have given balance having a natural left sided player there and fresh legs.

It's a bit strange about Reid, got SPL experience, and although still very young, he is 20 in May. You would think he could get at least a few minutes on the pitch for the first team. Maybe he hasn't come up to expectations, but if he is on the bench, he should be good enough. I assume he got on the bench ahead of Pask?

I think if Dabo had done his groin he would have come off likely it was a blow on his wedding tackle area But in my opinion we are at a crucial period with Dabo, Todd Kane is a better defender than him and delivers good passing and crosses but Dabo is our Main threat of attacking pace. Can he play lwb yes but opposition will take him on his left hand side. Delema for MR

He has previously done to others what Ebosele did to him (without quite the same turn of pace). He regularly drew the defender into him and wriggled away from them. He has done less of this lately - perhaps better opposition, but post injury seems to be less effective (partly because he may not have fully recovered - I know yesterday was his first outing post Cov-id). Hopefully once fully recovered he will be fine, but yes he never had quite the pace Ebosele does.

Why does a wing back need to beat a man?

Dabo has wriggled past opponents loads of times - that's why opposition fans have so regularly commented about him being a good player - not for his defensive abilities (i'll find quotes if you like)

In his time with us Dabo has frequently done what Ebosele did yesterday, and unfortunately like Ebosele inevitably failed to find a team mate with the following cross or pass.

Off the top of my head Dabo has an assist for goddens header against Oxford and bakas header against Bolton. He may have one against Exeter in the league Cup where godden made his debut. Are there others?

I wouldn’t but going on a lot of the above perhaps it’s time to get rid and move on as we all know football is for ever evolving.

Dabo was poor yesterday before getting injured, why he was left on the pitch after that is a mystery.
Lets not forget he's also had Covid, he could still be feeling the after effects, though that just adds to the bemusement as to why Robins never subbed him.

Yes for Exeter & also assisted Godden v Rotherham too.
So 4 in 19/20
0 in 20/21
1 this season (Gyökeres v Blackpool)

Ultimately we won 1-0 so MR leaving him on worked. As for mid term damage, if he is injured he's probably aggravated it and god knows where his confidence will be at after being absolutely roasted.

MR used to back his youth, Shipley, bayliss, Eccles, hyam, even throwing Morgan Williams in one match who did really well, but in the championship he has grown into the habit of reluctance to do so. Reid will be intelligent enough to know it would have been a huge risk to come on into that scenario but at the same time, if I were him I'd be knocking on the door asking why he's not giving him his backing. Reid could be on about 60 senior appearances in spl but he came to us, I'm sure there's a long term plan for him as he's still only 19 but for me he's another that has to go on loan second half of the season.

Of course it's hard to judge assists because there will be chances missed by strikers so dabo could argue he should be on more.

For what it's worth, he gets my backing but kane has proven you don't need to get fans off the edge of their seat to be effective and dangerous

Well said, exactly right. I was not sure about Kane in the begining, but he has proven a handful and his commitment and professionalism is a high standard. Dabo has had one injury period after another and always takes time to get up to speed (AKA Kelly) soresting him and getting him back super fit and we will see an improved Dabo, no doubt. For now we have adequate cover in Kane who has surely now arrested the shirt from Dabo - for now.

He was brilliant in League One, been shite ever since. Poor defensively and cannot beat a man. Kane is clear and should be starting.

when I was watching the BCDs games last season I'd have home teams coms on for away games, a lot of them were impressed with him and rightly so, not been great this year granted.

As I’ve said football teams evolve we know our left back position needs sorting for next season and maybe centre-half too. Perhaps we will see young Reid towards the end of the season needs to get on the bench on a regular basis, this a big four months for him.

I think shite is harsh he missed the first few months of last season through injury and was in and out once he returned with injuries a bit same this season. But he is definitely second to Kane.

His defending was naive. He made it easy for his opponent. Da Costa has played better and got far more stick.

When he forges forward his crossing is very hit and miss. Defending he is not a natural and switches off. At this level he is average. Kane is a far better player.

I think Dabo is a great player with great technical pedigree coming through the ranks of Chelsea.

Kane became available and for whatever reason we were able to sign him for a lot less than his probable value.
RWB is one position that we have depth and Kane is in form and deserves to keep his place.
I do worry that playing Fanky at CB and LWB not only risks his confidence but also puts him at further risk of injury as he tries to stretch / tackle with his unfavoured side / foot etc.

I’d rather have Kane being told to run himself into the ground and chase everything for 60 & then bring Fanky on.

Dabo made the fundamental mistake of diving in to his first tackle. Player pushed it past him and gained 10 yards on him. Only well into the second half did Dabo stand off him and just restrict his options and gain time for someone else to cover
