....working with a personal trainer to keep himself fit. Been a bit of interest from L1 and Championship clubs but his agent hasn't actually got a deal in place yet. SP said they'd help him find a new club, so we can get the best deal for City.

Strange, wondering what is taking so long for a Club to snap him up. I really don't rate him as highly as most. I think his defensive skills leave a lot to be desired. Sounds like a good lad though.

I think our right back position has been a weak spot for years. Between Clarke and Christie they are pretty weak defensively.

Don't get me wrong, I like Cyrus and wish he would stay, but I have a feeling that his agent has let him down a little here. But, we'll see. Hope he does get fixed up.

This is the risk they take when running a contract down. Surely it makes sense for a young player looking to make their way in the game to have the security of a contract, work hard and continue to impress on the pitch ( as he was seemingly doing) then the moves up the ranks will come. As it is now, he is effectively looking on in from the outside and as each day passes his position becomes weaker. Have we removed our contract offer?

Not a huge fan of Christies but think he will end up at a decent club. The bit about the 'six figure compensation' is ridiculous. The whole point of compensation is to reflect the effort put into developing him. Hes been here for about 12 years hasnt he??! If he'd been in the demand his agent thinks he is we should be looking at £500k.

Not bothered if he gets fixed up quickly, as he has not exactly endeared himself to the fans or club with his behavior, as himself and his agent obviously rate themselves a little to much. Wilson could give him a lesson in how to connect with fans particularly the honesty Wilson has shown, and the fact that he was willing to stay and fight for a shirt at our club until an offer he could not turn down came along

It's all a bit silly this one. As I understand it his contract ran out last week and no one but us has out a firm contract offer down.

This means a 21 year old lad hasn't got a job effectively. He is missing out on good pay also. He must be on or looking for around 2-3k a week so each week that passes by he is losing 3k personally.

No club will want to part with 6 figures for him and probably that's the stumbling block else why hasn't a club snapped him up yet as obviously there is interest in him.

SP has now said a player plus compo would suffice as then a potential club won't have to pay a silly amount of compo then.

Our contract offer is on the table still but it is less I believe than he was on before slightly. Ccfc have to offer him a contract else they are not entitled to compensation for him.

The fee we have asked for I believe is around £650,000 or it goes to a tribunal.

Thanks,
Personally I think we should keep him if possible. The urgent need for his compo should have passed now CW has been sold.
From what I have seen he has good potential and would benefit from another season at our level.

Another Mifsud?

Obvious he thought he was billy big shot "Balla" by seeing him last season, you wouldn't be as fussed if he gave 100% up until the very end.

Not fussed if he leaves, yes he was ok at going forward but often his crosses were over hit or fluffed, if he got his crossing sorted he would be a lot better.

Jordan Clarke could more than fill in

You never know he could stay. We are the only ones to have offered a contract. Others have just shown interest.

The stumbling block seems to be the compo fee and if Grendel is right at 650k? I heard it was more around 3-400k but either way who is going to pay 300-600k for CC. He is a good player and would love him to stay with us but probably not championship level and a club paying for him would also have to pay treble his wages.

As I say each week that goes by he is losing money as he is earning nothing at the moment. Why he can't sign one more year with us I don't know.

Oh dear Cyrus.. There were so many Clubs linked with Cyrus at the end of last season (I remember seeing Spurs, Sunderland, Brighton, among others) but it hasn't materialised for whatever reason.

It was obvious by form that Cyrus had his head turned before the end of last season and it's unfortunate, because at the beginning of the season Cyrus looked really good, then he sustained his injury and didn't look the same player.

Would I keep Cyrus? Yes, only on the basis that Steven Pressley push Cyrus further forward and convert him into a winger, keeping him at Right Back isn't good as I am sure Cyrus does not know how to defend.

He's an atrocious crosser though, Rob. For me he's a great athlete but a poor footballer. I'd keep him if he changed his mind and showed commitment mind you.

Agreed that his crossing can be terrible, but he has pace and he can get past a player, crossing can be improved, but unfortunately he has had many years where Cyrus has moved position from youth level and it has disturbed his progress in any one singular position.

I would agree with the commitment change, however I think that has something to do with the Agent on this occasion.

Cyruss is being buggered about by people within the club and has run his contract out so he is now a completely free agent. He has been frigged about by certain persons within the club who at one time wouldn't talk to his agent who incidently is the same agent for Callum Wilson. Apparently the club want around £800k but it is more likely to go to a tribunal now he is completely out of contract. He is no longer an employee of CCFC so getting a personal trainer is an good thing to do. I think Christie has it in his locker to play at a higher level and with the club and right coaching will only get better. I believe there is a concrete offer from a certain club but there are one or two others sniffing about one of which I think he prefers.

I think you're right. I think he's alright at our level and I have liked him to stay, but I certainly don't think he's as good as he thinks he is. Or as his agent is telling him he is anyway. I really hope he doesn't end up messing his career up and gets fixed up. I've got nothing against the lad.

Maybe if no offers come in, and he stayed for one more season, we may see a vast improvement in him to attract a big move? Could work out for all parties. If he goes though, that could free up wages for 2 more players, so would be ideal for ccfc anyway, plus the compo.

To be honest, I wouldn't have him as first choice if he did come back. I think he was to blame for a lot of our defensive frailty. I reckon Pressley is going with less attacking full backs next season.

Christie bursts on the scene, he is a possible star in the making, plays and learns his trade for a couple of seasons reasonably successfully, in a basket case of a football team he becomes only average then when on the verge of pastures new he becomes crap!! .Cyrus Christie has it in his locker to do really well in the future and it is a shame it is not with us, but that will go for any star in the making here.

Its clear the compo is the stumbling block.

Who is going to pay 500k plus for a out of contract defender who cant defend?

I reckon this story is more about Waggot needing the money to continue with bringing in additional payers than Cyrus ballsing up his career.

This is the 2nd time Waggot has gone the the media to urge Cyrus & his agent to make a decision quickly.

I can't imagine Cyrus has no offers, certainly a league one club will take him by the end of the window, but maybe the championship contract I imagine he wants is not that easy to get. From his perspective it is worth waiting a month to secure twice as much money.

Oxford, I think.

I always thought he was rubbish.

Don't get R-B thinking Cyrus is a star in the making. Always thought he was OK, but a star? Nah, not for me. It seems not for anyone else at the moment either.
