There is one other option on the outskirts of the city boundary, but both CA and I would like to go for the BPA option. It bucks the trend of stadium development today – being an inner-city stadium – however, there are so many positives to the football club moving here. There would be no option of the academy being at the BPA, though, whereas that would be an option with the other ‘out-of-town’ site.

It could be, and they have actually shown to be forced out so get more backing.Rubbish it, tell me I'm overthinking... whatever.
From the SCG minutes.
Now... if we trace the time line.
Club announces Butts as option;
Academy stated to be under threat;
Talks over staying at Ricoh stall.
Would it be beyond the realms of possibility that the 'out of town' site with space for academy is actually the first choice... and this is all setting it up to be palatable?

Going by your avatar of Varys, i don't think everything is crossed.If this was true (which I hope is!!) it would indicate a level of long term planning that has been generally absent in CCFC dealings in the last 20 years.
I've got lots of things crossed.
I'd personally have Butts as first choice but that is a definite no go at the moment, council won't allow it to happen.The way things are looking our options are basically move to the Butts, move the other side of the city boundary or lose pretty much everything. At this point if we saw some concrete plans for an all in one stadium & academy facility not too far over the city boundary I'd be all for it. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Just posted something similar on another thread. I think its the only way forward that we have to be free of council involvement.

Anyone considered if this is actually SISU behind this, the company that owns the land is in Jersey & nothing is known about them.. no planning applications have been submitted to replace the stadium. http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/live-coventry-speedway-fans-hold-11391351

It's possible, doesn't make it probable though. We're talking about an outfit who wouldn't even table a bid, any bid with the council for the Ricoh when invited. They clearly didn't have the backing to do that so I don't buy that they have the backing to aquire land and develop it into a stadium, training ground and academy. It would probably cost them more to do than what Villa was just sold for with those things already in place. They have zero chance of getting that money back let alone back with profit so they are not going to do it IMO.
I think it's more likely that it's another game of bluff and it's backfired. Again!

If I get how you're thinking but the SCG minutes I think say SISU won't be funding the Butts, largely coming from development and grantsThere's one thing a wise man said to me (a man I don't always agree with) that is indeed a truth, that SISU do a fine misdirection.
As such, I'd just like to keep a weather-eye on things such as this just in case... hopefully without distracting from the core issues.

I'm not a fan of the Butts idea anyway. Limits the potential of the club. Would much rather a purpose built stadium with all facilities on outskirts. I personally would incorporate some sort of fan plaza with bars, hotel, shops, etc but try to ccfc theme it. Would be the place for JH statue, etc to go.
Something like this (but smaller scale I would guess).....

Another curve ball is that they have decided not to have an Academy in any case and the current furore actually suits the club. But that would involve senior people at the club not being truthful wouldn't it - CA uses a lot of words very carefully but I think he pretty much tells honestly what he can
If we're capable of assuming this situation then they surely have IMOI've thought for a while they might find another method to an academy.
Truth be told, beyond the social benefits... I can see the financial benefits to getting rid (that doesn't mean I *want* to, btw). It does depend on a manager being able to pick well though, and then we become more dependent on picking a decent manager each time, then if we have our own academy up and running, semi-independently to the visible bits in the first team.

Agreed!Sure they have.
There's certainly an argument that as football tries to centralise itself (much as Rugby has done/is doing) then to keep an academy going at our level is swimming against the tide.
Could also argue Anderson has the ideal background to implement a non-academy driven future.
If we lose cat 2 I think we may as well abandon it, put the money into scouting and pluck the best 17 year olds from other academies for our development team.I've thought for a while they might find another method to an academy.
