That's what we should be thinking of....the last 5 games and forget what has gone before.
Your only as good as your next game maybe but having 'form' shows everyone we should not be where we are!

If you look at that away record ignore the recent 2 away draws and it makes absolutely no sense. How can there be so much contrast?

Home form is equal to many in this league much on a par with Hull in fact.

I hope AT has not left it too late having sorted the away form?

Wyken should be pleased. He always bases him form on the last three games. ;)

Who knows. Enjoy it while it lasts. We're hitting form when it matters, which is the most important thing.

Guess the only question here is, how long will this form last?

Quite easy to deduce that if we carry on in anything like the current form we are in we will be fine and will get out of this with ease.

I feel like we can keep this good run going.

Unfortunately I also feel like Bristol City, Donny and cheating Pompey will also have great runs.

Of course we should be where we are! The majority of the season has been awful at best.
How have we sorted the away form?
The past few weeks have been better but I'd say we were far from sorted.

All the best

There is a bit more optimism certainly. Gives us some hope definitely.

We dont stay up or go down on the basis of 5 games recent form though. All the last 5 games tell us is that we can compete at this level and we are able to win points - we are in the current position because of the whole season so far, so here is where we deserve to be. Sorry not trying to be negative but 5 decent results do not tell anyone anything other than we are not push overs currently.

Our away form is so poor and so far behind anyone else in the division it is bordering on embarrassing. Over the season so far ......

Home form
there are 15 teams with better home form
average points for division at home after 39 games is 31 we have 30
average number of home wins after 39 games is 9 we have 8 (15 teams better)

away form
23 teams have a better away record
next worst away record after 39 games Pompey with 11 points we have 5
average number of away wins so far for division 6 we have 0
next least away wins is 3 we have 0
average number of away points for division after 39 games is 22 we have 5
our goals scored is 9 next worst Pompey with 14

In truth I am not telling anyone anything we didnt know. The key to us staying up or going down has always been our away form. We are below average at home and the worst in the division by some distance away from home (based on wins or points gained). We deserve to be where we are on those stats

All that said I am hopeful that the team and AT have finally found a formula (and a bit of luck) that at least gives us a decent chance of avoiding the drop. But as you say only as good as the next match.

Agreed OSB.
If we do pull off one of our great escapes for which we have had a reputation for over the years, my concern would be that Sisu can think that they can pull the same stunts next year and get away with it.
But for now I would take staying up any day and just roll with what may or may not happen over the summer.:D

Steady on AT! You might even get the Manager of the Month award! What a death sentence! :D

I'm not saying we don't deserve to be where we are? Absolutely we do.
Our away form has been nothing short of diabolical yes but that's not what I'm highlighting OSB. I'm talking of recent games and the obvious shift in results that far exceed expectation.

There can be no denying that recent games away from home at Watford, Cardiff have shown that we have the ability.
This month has seen us lose just once in six games so far. Our best month all season!
Add to that we also played Birmingham, Portsmouth and Leicester (not easy fixtures) and one can assume that's a fair 'turn around' based on all previous months?

Optimism it is and I hope we continue in the same form. There has been some consistency at last and on that basis you would like to think a corner has finally been turned by AT and his charges?

Even if beaten at Hull it would not necessarily suggest 'normal service resumed' - I'll leave that for the doom mongers.
Perhaps any result there, would though compound my opinion?

Not sure the results on the last five games have far exceeded my expectation. The only result in those games that exceeded my expectation was away at Cardiff.... in the end I think AT was a little disappointed not to have won that one. At the time I thought we might pick up points and now with hindsight feel we could have done even better. Just think the team is doing what it should have been doing all season. Perhaps it is the sharp end of the season, perhaps it is AT finding his feet, perhaps things are finally gelling.

Finally there is some real fight and desire, consistency will come with confidence. Although entirely welcome the results on the last five games are not exceptional. We are not as bad as some make out, but the pieces of the team puzzle hadnt been put together properly - was always going to be a struggle but even the same number of points away from home as pompey would have made such a difference. But thats just my opinion :)

What ever has happened I hope we maintain it - at least give ourselves the best chance of staying up. I dont want to put a downer on it at all - I think we are good enough to have deserved those points.
