COVENTRY CITY say they're finished in the transfer market for today - meaning captain Sammy Clingan will be staying at the club.
Speculation that Leeds United would follow up their summer approach for the Northern Ireland midfielder with a late transfer deadline day bid proved unfounded.
And the Telegraph understands that City's transfer dealings are now finished, meaning no more arrivals or departures before the window closes at 11pm.
City sold centre-back Ben Turner to Cardiff City before bringing in Norwich City striker Cody McDonald.
They also rejected several bid for star forward Lukas Jutkiewicz, who was a target for Middlesbrough.
Why are people complaining about 750 k for Turner? decent price I reckon, yes he was good last season and was improving however we have a few centre halfs, and have bought in a striker from a premier league club. I think most hwere were over valuing Turner, just like Leicester did when buying Mills.
TURNer good look to the boy, never got the move to his home club , but agreat example of sticking with it .breaking thru @18---19 ,making his mistakes then learning from themagainst a backdrop of groans from some, but then maturing to become potientially hot property. Not enough of our youth have had achance under our previuos 3 managers, its vital for a club like ours to produce 2--3 youngsters a season,we can trust andy thorn to follow this model.
Because he's worth lots more than 750k and is one of the best young defenders in the Championship. Because he signed a 3 year contract not long ago-if he'd played for us until Xmas, we could have sold him then for 2m+. Because SISU said the money we didn't spend on wages for King, Aron, Westwood etc was still there-so added to Dann and Aron money in transfer fees in, that should have been enough to pay for McDonald. The squad was bare, and we've failed to increase it in numbers, and SISU make a little bit of dosh and fool people that we've "stengthened".
