Why should he keep quiet about it, especially if he was asked the question by the reporter? Wouldn't people be annoyed and think something was up if he refused to answer and if he is new to this role how have you heard him say it for long enough?

Sisu haven't actually been specific in what it is they actually want, whether it is full ownership, freehold, leasehold or any other property term they care to think of moving the goalposts to next. So surely by him just saying the doors are always open is a good thing because if he said one specific thing then Sisu would be up in arms saying they wanted something else, don't you think?

To be equally fair, Torchy; he's steering a ship that's trying to move the emphasis of it's business model from one with a sport-centered profile with decent anchor tenant, to one not reliant on it's original primary source of revenue. Not an easy job. If I were charged with doing it, I'd be bigging things up

I think whilst understandably people focus on the sports side of things and connections with Hearts, Mr Robinson also has a very successful career in the conference and exhibition catering/operations and I suspect with the ACL necessary change in direction that is why he has been brought in. The Hearts and SFA connection is a perhaps useful extra, that gives ACL further insight in to the football business.

Sadly that points to the Ricoh being a CCFC free zone for sometime to come because SISU wont rent and ACL have to make other plans.

CCFC can only be offered a rent deal by ACL that is all that they can offer. Just because SISU demand something else doesn't mean they have to be offered it. Sadly that leaves our club at the mercy of a lack of compromise. If freehold is so important to SISU then their only choice is get on and build a new stadium. Aside from court cases that is

I suppose Joy Seppala's statement that said "We will only return as owners" means nothing at all then?

I'm not sure about whether the Ricoh complex can diversify so much, it's not as if it has unused capacity aside from the stadium bowl being in use 20 odd times a season, but I don't know.

My view is it can diversify massively, but only with a massive amount of investment.

That investment is unlikely to come from the council, so I suppose it depends on whether at some point in the future they can find an investor.

That's reasonable.

Whether the Ricoh Arena as a business can be successful without CCFC is yet to be seen and this won't be confirmed for time period while the Club is in Northampton.

If I put a question mark in it usually means I am asking a question. 3 I think I asked and you didn't answer one of them directly so just in case you didn't see them, do you want to answer them? If you say "I answered it when saying about Anne Lucas", it wasn't her speaking you know, it was a man in a new position answering questions put to him by a reporter asking questions about CCFC together with questions about ACL, what did you expect him to say?

Have to agree Robo. I also like your support and positivity but think for a second. The ricoh and acl have moved on (past tense) they are arranging events (5 this last month) they have nothing to do with ccfc anymore. He has been nice enough to say the door is always open other could of said sod off. I agree with gentleman, unless you make a bid then I can say I want a Ferrari all I want, but even then gentleman if Sisu offer 2 mil for the ricoh is that really doing something about it?

That's a little harsh really if I am honest, what I meant by the comment you quoted is that the time span of Coventry effectively playing in Northampton whether it be three or five years will be a good judging point on how the Arena business is coping should CCFC not return. You can't judge these things overnight and can't really judge it on the fact that the Club witheld rent for a year because there are so many variables that might not come back during the upcoming years, i.e Olympics for one.

I would also advise please think about the tone you use to engage with others as another poster might have read this your last line rudely and sniped back.

Then if they have nothing to do with CCFC as you and Gentleman keep saying don't keep mentioning at every possible oppotunity that a Rental Deal is still likely to be avaliable, for two reasons:

a) If we are lead to believe it the Club don't want a rental deal any way's.
b) Sisu have said they will build Lego Land, everyone thinks this is a bluff, point taken, however if they are genuinely happy to move on let them go and build a new ground and close the window of opportunity.

I'd rather Chris Robinson had said sod off frankly as harsh as that may sound, at least in that perspective everyone knows where they stand, which for God knows how long now - mainly the fans with this next comment - no one knows where the line is and what certain parties stances are.

Thank you Moff It doesn't bother me so much Moff I am glad to say, however I know this thread would have taken for the worst had the implications been to a number of other posters, with five threads already being closed today and pretty much every thread for six months going dangerously off topic, I'd like to try and prevent that if at all possible.

No it wouldn't make as much sense as having the actual local professional football team playing there, but hey, that is up to the owners.

If it means the bees continue in Coventry in three years time, they have a history equal to Coventry City FC, I'm all for it.

Depends on how big the track is. Brandon is big for a speedway track. Somewhere like Mildenhall is tiny in comparison. It also has a dog track around the outside and that's the only space between the speedway track and the crowd. Potentially it could also have the stock cars and bangers on too so something could be happening every weekend.

Having said that I think it's about as likely as sisu building a new ground.

Hey Robo im not a nasty person, We all have a common ground here and that is ccfc and its best interests and I am every bit as passionate or even more so than you. Sisu took us out of the ricoh and from what I can see more fool them. Fancy costing yourself and a team that much money for no reason. I suspect they dump the whole lot on ccfc as is suggested but not sure how all that bit works. They will never own the ricoh. I can see you're narked about the mans comments regarding the ricoh but he is being genuine and has no previous with sisu. 3) I want the City to benefit from a successful Business in the Arena and a successful Football Team which has never been the case taken the Club and the Arena into account.

I agree that the Ricoh is an asset of the people of Coventry but also the Club would be of similar vain until this season and both are viewed upon by myself personally as pieces in one big off game of chess.

You can't seriously ask the council to say "That's it CCFC is never coming back"? Because that's the only more definite thing they could say IMO.

Can you imagine the glee from some on here if Lucas (sorry, "Mucas") said that?

Frankly, I just don't see how else you can deal with Sisu. They remind me of the recalcitrant year 8s I deal with, they just want an opportunity to answer back, make up some shit, have an argument, no matter what you say. So the best way is to almost ignore them until they come to you. Not sure if I've explained it well, but watch Supernanny and see how she deals with misbehaviour. That's basically what you have to do when faced with someone like Fisher et al, just wait for them to come to you and ignore their tantrums.

And I'm sure you may think something like "that's not very professional", in which case I'd argue the exact opposite. Not only is it exactly how an ambassador for the city should act when faced with such mischief, but the unprofessionalism exists only on Sisu's side. I think Lucas has been spot on with this. The council is actually the big dog here and should focus on the more important things until Sisu show they are willing to treat the council of the people who actually own the club which they are lucky enough to be custodians of with the respect they deserve.

Like it or not, Lucas is our representative as the people of Coventry. How Sisu treat her and her office shows the disregard they have for all people of this city IMO.

Good points matey. I agree with all your 3 want to happens obviously. I can only see the new acl chairman and AL alwayssaying the door is left open but personally I don't get what else they could say except sod off as you say. They cant say that so the door has to be left open as it were. CCC wont sell and SISU wont rent and that's why we are right now but what I and many others cant get is why not accept the 150k offered as this is 1.1 mil down from previous years. The football team stay in cov and hopefully successful and ccc make a bit of rent and the city prosper.

If it was a football decision then sisu wouldn't of done it but its about a return on sisu's investment and investors I guess but again I don't get it as the longer they stay away the more it will cost them and they still wont get the ricoh. madness I find this.

97% of fans don't think a stadium will be built and I believe you and I are in that percentage but again why say it. A new 20 million stadium and all the osses you've incurred it makes no sense oh and lost 70% of your loyal fans so I think its pretty safe to safe the majority are right on this one.

unfortunately what im getting at is more and more woe for CCFC the main thing in all of this. It has no end in sight and as for the money losses on to the club as I say im not sure about this but its what I have read. A bit like the rent get a 1.6m bill and then admin makes you pay only 1 third.

I cant see the JR helping anyone regardless of the result as ccc win and its as we were and move on or sisu win and maybe get a few million compensation. Either way its irrelevant to us. CCC will never sell to sisu and just cus they lose a JR means nothing to losing the ricoh from what it looks like.

Frankly, I just don't see how else you can deal with Sisu. They remind me of the recalcitrant year 8s I deal with, they just want an opportunity to answer back, make up some shit, have an argument, no matter what you say. So the best way is to almost ignore them until they come to you. Not sure if I've explained it well, but watch Supernanny and see how she deals with misbehaviour. That's basically what you have to do when faced with someone like Fisher et al, just wait for them to come to you and ignore their tantrums.

And I'm sure you think say something like "that's not very professional", in which case I'd argue the exact opposite. Not only is it exactly how an ambassador for the city should act when faced with such mischief, but the unprofessionalism exists only on Sisu's side. I think Lucas has been spot on with this. The council is actually the big dog here and should focus on the more important things until Sisu show they are willing to treat the council of the people who actually own the club which they are lucky enough to be custodians of with the respect they deserve.

Like it or not, Lucas is our representative as the people of Coventry. How Sisu treat her and her office shows the disregard they have for all people of this city IMO.

Mind you, in some circles that can be seen as a compliment I would imagine so don't know whether to be happy or offended, but to be perfectly honest I couldn't give a toss either way. Answering peoples direct questions is just good manners but I suppose we can't all have them. With regard to my 'rude and obnoxious tone' from my keyboard, please, my kids heard far worse in the playground when they were younger so if you are offended by what I posted can I suggest another sport, say bowls or something because at football matches people use the F word and even worse. Besides, I have just read back what I said and jesus christ, drama queens spring to mind (hope that's not too offensive because it is before 9pm).

That's a little harsh really if I am honest, what I meant by the comment you quoted is that the time span of Coventry effectively playing in Northampton whether it be three or five years will be a good judging point on how the Arena business is coping should CCFC not return. You can't judge these things overnight and can't really judge it on the fact that the Club witheld rent for a year because there are so many variables that might not come back during the upcoming years, i.e Olympics for one.

Haha pot and kettle come to mind. You can give it but cant take it. I'm not offended by what you said just cant believe you act like a drama queen when someone offends you and then get all drama queen when someone points out you have been equally offensive to someone else. Oh and bowls isnt my scene I took it as yours old man, and I am not offended by bad language just didn't think it was the place to call you a F'ing ****.

Fwiw, and back to the OP, I thought that it was a good article and interview. I want to hear that ACL's doing well, but the door's still open to CCFC. I thought there was a coded suggestion in the interview that ACL's accounts might not look great for this year too. I don't think that will panic anyone at the council too much at the moment, but if that's repeated next year things might get interesting!
