Who's predicting that ?

Just a few people going low 5K; when with STs, match tickets already sold (around 1K I'm told) and likely away following, we'd get 5.5K even we didn't sell another ticket between now and the game. Not that it matters - the crowd will be what it is. Do sense that one or two people are hoping for a low turnout though.

How many will County bring? Probably quite a few their home attendances were around 10K at the start of last season (dropping off later on when they sunk down the table), as we are close I expect they'll easily bring 1K away fans.

It is one of the biggest games of the season. I expect good support for both clubs. Both clubs expected to be near the top. Both clubs are supported well considering the level we are at.

Yeah and I was best man at my brother's wedding and still snuck out to go to the game City had on that day. Went to 'the toilet' straight after the speeches and just didn't come back.

Reminds me of a old fella I used to play football with. On his wedding day, he got married in the morning and then played football in the afternoon!

Still together this day, some 30 years later.

I went up the match my own wedding day. Got married, watched us draw 1-1 with Reading, then went to the reception. Mother in law wasn't impressed.

First game of the season is always a game to look forward to even if ours is in League 2. I reckon they'll be a good crowd there around 9,000. Even that sounds low ! A customer of mine says he's gutted he's not going, as he's going on holiday. He could have gone away on another week so he can't be that gutted !

I asked all of the lads at work who went to the Chekatrade final if they are going on Saturday, but they all refused to comment, so I assume none of them are

Because they won't watch us at our worst?

The size of the city alone gives us potential. Getting the funding and leadership to realise that potential has always been our issue.

We do have potential. We were averaging just over 20k in the Championship when SISU took over. It was even higher before then. But what have we had since? 2 half seasons when we looked to be going somewhere and a day on the piss in London where we won something. But even then we were getting relegated again. The rest has been shit. Hardly any of our supporters can remember a top 6 finish. What we need is a promotion season. Lets get excited about something where it lasts more than half a season.

The club has never sustained support at a level befitting of 34 years in the top flight and being the only professional club in the sub region. Can't see it changes because even pre SISU there was a general apathy. There will always be a reason for people not to go.

I agree, but......

The attendances for just about all clubs went down in the 80's. The violence put a lot of people off. I think you are about my age. If so you will remember what it was like. There was gobby shites that would cause trouble then run away. We used to have to fight our way into grounds and then fight your way back out. If you was on a coach you would be on the lookout for bricks coming through your window. I remember the days in the top flight where we were only getting 8k.

By the time it started to calm down a bit in the 90's we had nothing to cheer but relegation battles. A lot of our supporters never came back.

we left the prem just before the boom boom level(we saw some of the boom!) stuff like becoming more popular around the world than countries domestic leagues, international tours, being able to buy players that whilst in mid table prem that choose us over likes of top 4 german and italian teams etc. being in the prem is a bigger deal nowadays

if we were still in prem i think the city would be footy mad personally.

I'd rather not be in the Prem than be surrounded by face painted flag wavers who never bothered before, it'd be like watching Wasps.

Can't see many more than 7K turning up and thats with County bringing 1200+.
Its sad to think but most gates will be between 5&6K this season.

Even with 8,000 in that stadium and the away fans about 1/2 mile from the home support it's going to feel like an old reserve match where you can here the players calling for the ball and the coaches balling at them. City need a super start and then some proper pricing offers to drag folk back and it might start sounding like a football stadium and I could see us easy topping 15k + if we were top 2 !

The premier league is a circus though. I know fans from other championship clubs who prefer the atmosphere and competitiveness there.

and those fans are idiots. probably the sort that refuse to pay for sky because they have killed football etc

whats next? i don't want to qualify for champions league?

strive to be the best, dont set a limit because you selfishly wouldnt want fairweather fans. look at leicester! i rememebr one of their fans on talksport saying he prefered the championship and wouldnt mind if they got relegated(season BEFORE WINNING PREM) bet he didnt think that the following year!

think of all the kids that would support cov if we were in the biggest league in the world rather than pick a top 4 side because who cares about league 2 etc

its whats best for the club at end of the day
