Can they all just be left behind in Australia please?

The team is woefully underprepared for this series and - as I said to the wife yesterday - they shouldn't be picking Bethell, given that he has barely played any first class cricket this year. To expect a young player, with that lack of experience and game time, in a downcast and beaten side, to come out in front of 100,000 baying Aussie fans and play well is ridiculous. He is a very promising talent but they are going to ruin him if they carry on like this. How long before the media get on his back?

Just caught up with the highlights and watched Brooks charging down the wicket. Genuine laugh out loud moment.

That had a redemption arc in it at least.

Omg I listened all night - wasn’t sure we would reach 30 let alone 100 odd - feel for Bethell - that place was a cauldron with 93 k

Went to bed with Travis Head batting for Australia.
Woke up with Travis Head batting for Australia.

Took me a while to work out wtf had happened in between!

Maybe there is a cricket board dumber than ECB. Cricket Australia recently announced big losses yet "allow" a pitch like this where they'll likely lose 2 to 3 days of 90k plus crowds.
Still would have batted Stokes at 3 and tried to protect Bethell a little.

Pretty much sums the tour up. Get them out for a low score to give ourselves a chance and then do things like that. The response from Aggers and Tuffers is all of us

It's beyond parody at this point. In all honesty it's so bad you wouldn't be surprised if some huge betting scam comes to light.

I’d prefer it if it was just match fixing rather than being this bad to be fair. I remember when we had the infamous ‘Fredalo’ incident, this lot seem to have multiple of these a week.

Agnew’s quote of ‘it’s like nothing that’s been said in the last month has gone in’ is bang on. Genuinely, it’s what you see in a Sunday village friendly: just go out there and tee off.

In his defence he had to break up the field positions as they had us pinned down - virtually every ball in the first 4 overs was taking a wicket - true maybe the first ball was a bit previous

Sums up how bad we have been when we are hoping its one big betting scam rather than an unbelievably bad tour.

The whole series batting wise has been awful from both teams. England have 4 of the top 6 highest averages.

The issue has been Head and Carey have been head and shoulders above all and Starc dominated the bowling

It’s been rank quality from everyone else

Spot on. Stokes is the only one with the temperament and technique to play at 3 out of that lot and unless he’d bowled a shedload should’ve gone in there. Throwing Bethall to the wolves when we’re usually one wicket down within a couple of overs is asking a bit much

Thats the frustration, a semi competent batting display in the series would’ve probably seen us win it.

Honestly think it's more of a "fuck you" approach/attitude to fans, pundits & press. "don't care what you think"etc.

Should just tell the people who’ve spent all that money and traveled all that way if that’s what they plan on doing.

Only positive is that these quick finishes won’t help cricket Australia’s finances.

Not even an hour in and we've dropped one and Atkinson has done his hamstring.

And they will now feel some justification for the preparation for the tour as they have won a test in Australia.

Will take the win. Important after 18 games over there without one. Really good bowling display from what I’ve seen. Leaves a big ‘what if’ feeling though as the series was there for the taking with some competent, disciplined batting

Less than 12 days of cricket and 4 matches done. Its probably one of the worst series too.

Well, at least they've avoided the whitewash, which had looked completely inevitable.

But this can't change the narrative around the team. The performances until now have been absolutely farcical, and that still needs facing up to if things are going to have any chance of improving.

The awful pitch was a leveller in the end. A bit like how the Scottish rugby team could always be counted on to win on a quagmire at Murrayfield.

I know there’s a few understandable grumbles but this is what it’s all about. The roars with each four were immense. They deserved this one and more

Well can't say I was totally surprised when I woke up but did not expect us to be on the right side of it

Was quite interesting when Fisher brought out the drinks and one of the comms probably Swann said he would have been unplayable on this track.
