We should probably stop fielding a Test team if we can’t be bothered to even facilitate the longer game in this country. Let another country have a go.

In completely predictable news

The Ashes: Mark Wood ruled of England squad, Matthew Fisher called up

Fast bowler Mark Wood is ruled out of England’s Ashes tour and replaced in the squad by Matthew Fisher.

basically they were praying they could get 3 Tests out of him. Says a lot about their confidence in the next tier of quicks.

It seems that lately they're far more concerned with just outright pace than anything else.

Glenn McGrath wasn't the quickest, but he was so accurate and able to move the ball about he was a constant threat.

Oh, and we have coaches (seemingly for the last decade) who seem to basically resort to bouncers all the time, even though the stats show you're far better actually aiming at the wickets.

So Australia bring in their front-line spinner. England have to admit defeat that the Bashir experiment hasn't worked out (not all the player's fault) and go with a spinner (Jacks) who only bowled 75 overs and managed 5 wickets in County Championship this summer.
Going to a minor miracle for this side to take 20 wickets in this Test

They either have the worst media advisors on the planet or are taking the piss out of us.
Harry Brook says England are refreshed after "trying to stay away from cricket as much as possible."

The team spent four days in Noosa on a break ahead of their crucial third Ashes Test in Adelaide.

They have stayed away from it during the tests as well. I really hope that when they get rid of the coach and hopefully Key somebody can stand up as a vice captain and then a captain as Brook is a disaster.

Smith out ill, Khawaja in might suit Khawaja more to come in at 4 rather than opening but that's the kind of luck we need if we're going to get anything out of this series

There’s the first drop of the day…

Not easy but he got his hands there. You want to be taking that

Probably a bowling performance that sums up England's approach recently. One good quick can't compensate for 2 sloppy ones. Australia gifted most of their wickets. Dropped catches costly again.
Jacks part-time spin doesn't look like it can take serious wickets - going to need a very friendly wicket for him to do anything.

Couldn't be arsed to stay up late / get up early again. Not a terrible first day but seems very much a 'wait until both sides have batted' situation.

Watch Starc go on and get a ton or a century last wicket partnership or something similar.

Aussies should finish on 350ish, England to make about 200-250, Aussie second innings around 400, England lose by around 150-200 runs.

You heard it here first

McClueless: 'Brooksy?'

Brooks: 'We're better than the Austrians?'

It is understood the sound used for the review was taken from the stump microphone at the bowlers' end, rather than the strikers' end.

This caused a discrepancy between the pictures and sound wave shown to TV umpire Chris Gaffaney.

The company in charge has taken responsibility but come on, that's amateur hour.

Another void series then...

The Ashes 2025-26: Australia's Alex Carey reprieved by Snicko operator error

The company that owns the Snicko technology takes "full responsibility" for the error that reprieved Australia wicketkeeper Alex Carey on day one of the third Ashes Test.

Starc with 2 boundaries in the first over. We could and should score an absolute ton once we’re in.

Need to get these last 2 quickly.

I mean, they were posing for pics and signing autographs on the beach up until a couple of days ago - That’s something.
They’re absolutely no use whatsoever in Adelaide.
Get back on that beach, lads.
