All the India fans I know were very pessimistic going into that series with a pretty green line up.

The good news is that the Las Vegas F1 grand Prix starts at 4.00 am tomorrow and I will no longer face the dilemma of whether to watch that or day three of the test

Having a first innings lead and to still lose a test match inside 2 days is incredibly embarrassing.

At least things cant get any worse!

And hopefully that's the last we see of Crawley.

Its not just Crawley, root and stokes both totalled 8 runs each in the match.

Can't really describe it as anything but a shambles. Had the perfect position to get ourselves 1-0 up and blew it with some very ordinary batting.

They never seem to learn, just throwing wickets away. Nobody is saying we should have over after over of just blocking the ball but just pull back a little bit and stop trying to smash every ball.

An absolute batting shit show!

Imo, Crawley has by far the poorest technique against fast bowling.
I'd back Root and Stokes to get runs over the course of this series, but Crawley is a walking wicket just waiting to happen, and everytime hes out it puts us under pressure with the middle order still facing the new ball.

I wouldn't mind if he could just last 15-20 overs without scoring, that would see the shine off the new ball and see the first bowling change. As it is hes doing nothing.

That was terrible in the end.

The pitch was a big factor there but there is always a danger that one so green was going to slow up in a couple of innings. It really wasn’t one to bat first on.

Good bowling first innings, the other 3 were diabolical.

Again England's bowlers struggle to put 2 innings together in a Test match.
With the current mindset they'll probably see Head's innings as an affirmation of that their batting approach can work.
Biggest criticism is that there are no shocks about the pitches or how Australia will bowl but there is no technical adjustments from our batsmen. If you want to play aggressive fine but there are still technique adjustments required for different types of wickets. eg too many batsmen getting pinned or knicked off because of poor foot movement

They had a real chance to put a load of work into Starc early in the series as well

Bit of a contrast in approaches. The Test world champions going to India on those prepared pitches and looking like they'll win a series.

With an 11 day break to the next test, which is a pink ball game, there was a lot of criticism that the powers that be had not scheduled a tour match. The response was that there was a Lions pink ball game scheduled and players would be able to join that.

So in their infinite wisdom the only players who have been sent to play in that are Bethell, Tongue and Potts.

They don't help themselves. There were interviews with fans out there on the BBC and they were furious. McCullum dismissed the criticism but now we're no doubt going to have a couple of weeks of press photos of them playing golf.

Him and Stokes seem immune to criticism - justified, constructive or unconstructive.

Very welcome, should never have been changed. Every time they posted about Birmingham Bears pretty much the only replies were people pissed off it wasn't Warwickshire. Made even less sense once the Hundred started and then they rebranded the women's teams to match the counties which was a mess with different names for our women's one day and t20 sides.

Wasn't last season the 10th season as Birmingham? The cynic in me says that a 10 year agreement has expired.

so playing a warm-up friendly on a slow, low pitch wasn't great preparation for the first Test. England's solution to preparing forthe 2nd Test against the most successful pink ball side is not to use the opportunity to send players to play a pink ball game. Arrogance just looks more like amateur hour now

Of course where have Crawley Root and Pope been pictured the golf course not in the nets. I understand they need downtime but this has a terrible look

Given our top and middle order have taken to playing their cricket shots like they're driving off the first tee at the Belfry, maybe it's good practice.

So confirmed what we all suspected. ECB basically hands control of England players over to the Hundred franchises for a large chunk of the summer. Sold their soul.

Wood out, reoccurrence of his knee injury.

Once again showing how idiotic it was to send him out to bowl after he’d injured it in that Champions Trophy game.

Stokes showing a great understanding of England supporters frustrations at the pre 2nd test presser

"Australia is the best country to tour away from cricket. There are so many things to do. You can go out and about and see things that only Australia has to offer, great golf courses, coffee shops and easy places to have lunch."

First test series I watched was v The Windies in 91, Smith hit some great knocks. Then had the privilege of seeing him put on a massive partnership with Alec Stewart at Edgbaston v Pakistan the following year.

He had an absolute battleaxe of a square cut. RIP Judge.

2/1 to win this one, but i genuinely fancy us. This could look silly by the weekend but I'll wear it.

I will get in from work for the start but won’t bother and might watch a bit after the school run.
