ICC needs to get a grip with the schedule. You can't just schedule play 12 months of the year and ignore seasonal weather.

Womens World Cup is seeing a lot of rain affected games as its been scheduled for rainy season. As one of the commentators on TMS said what's the point of a ODI world cup if you're hoping to squeeze in 20 overs a side between the rain.

Now we've got England playing an 8 overs a side game in New Zealand with the commentators saying the series is scheduled too early and was always at high risk of rain impacting games.

I think it’s a feature of today’s sport everywhere - trying to screw more money out of sponsors and spectatators - NZ spring is wet period !

Been abandoned now so that's one game in a three game series they've managed to get a result in. What a waste of everyones time.

Surely at some point broadcasters are going to question why they're spending money on rights and coverage when there's no play. Not to mention people are going to stop buying tickets. I haven't got tickets for the test at Edgbaston next year because its in September.

Same here, i opted against the september test due to the weather, no point shoe horning test in, from what i gather the tickets arent selling too good either

Who came up with this dumb format for the World Cup where everyone is in one massive group?

Another round of games to go and they're all completely meaningless because the teams we all knew would be are in the semi finals.

So the massive signing the bears have been hyping up has turned out to be Woakes. Bit of an anti-climax tbh, wasn't expecting him to go anywhere else.

I did think that he may on the t20 circuit so to have him for all formats is good makes the signing of Barker even more pointless

135 knock for Brook not too shabby but two dropped catches seal it

I think the problem with the women's team atm, and starting to creep in with the football too, is they were so dominant and so far out ahead, for so long, they got complacent. And whilst the rest of the world were improving and catching up we tread water and instead of improving, we've actually now gone backwards. Shown by that absolute shambles v Australia in the ashes!

Its almost like they all bought in to the hype too much and thought they were untouchable.

Very true. We also seem to have taken a backwards step in bringing new players through. We had the likes of Izzy Wong, who seems to have regressed massively since the England coaches got involved, and Mahika Gaur who came in and looked decent only to be never featured again. Not the only examples.

So you end up with the same old players who feel comfortable and under little threat of losing their place.

The team is a comfortable club, they brought in Capsey because she is from Surrey and the bits I have saw of her she is out of her depth. They probably need a bit of hunger and be warned that their money will be cut if they don’t start performing. The England coaches tried to remodel Wong as they do with most bowlers and they go backwards.

Dreadful news! And why EVERYONE should wear helmets! Still FAR too many people wear caps whilst batting in village cricket for my liking. Granted, most people that'll bowl to you wont surpass 40-50mph, but some can, and it only takes that 1 freak ball to bounce to end it all! The difference between a cap and a helmet is marginal at best. Especially for club/village cricketers. DONT CHANCE IT!

Meant to post earlier, looks like the BBC are going to have an Ashes highlight show available on iplayer. Not been said yet if its just the TNT highlights show or host broadcaster. Can't imagine they're sending a team to Aus for it given TNT are running comms from London.

I always worry about a top edge into my face if I have no helmet on I even bat against the spinners in one now, years ago I would face the opening bowlers in a cap. I got hit by a Beamer a few years ago I was playing a lot at the time and managed to get most of the way out of it but it hit me on the thumb and smashed into my grill if I had not helmet i would have had a broken cheek at best but probably a damaged eye socket as well, no apology and he bounced me the next ball.

Coverage confirmed and they've smashed it imo. Got everything covered, only downside is Vaughn on the commentary team but I guess it's cheaper if they use people who are already out there for Fox.

So what was it people were saying about Englands Ashes squad having too many injury prone bowlers?
Mark Wood is set to undergo a precautionary scan on Friday Nov 14, after suffering hamstring stiffness during Day 1 of England's warm-up game against England Lions in Perth.

Don't get having a warm up match against the Lions. Is Root bowling 14 overs for over 100 runs just to protect the other quicks?
