Surrey all out for 147 so no batting points for them, Notts only need 6 more points to be champions

My maths isn't great but I think with the bowling points they've got they now just need to score a minimum of 200 runs in the first 110 overs and its job done.

Anything apart from a collapse and all out below 200 in their first innings should do it.

If Notts get 9 Warwickshire wickets (currently have 5) in 110 overs and score 300 in 110 overs then even if Surrey win with full bowling points & Notts lose they will end up on the same points which isn't enough for Surrey as Notts have won more matches.

Notts win the county championship it’s good to see that big spending Surrey didn’t (I would imagine Notts wage bill is pretty high)

Warwickshire are going backwards the signing of Barker blows my mind, we really need a strong batsman to support Hain in the middle and a new captain, and wile we are there a new head coach.

The first line in the membership renewal thing they sent out was about building a fucking hotel so pretty clear what the priorities are.

Pleased it's not Surrey.
Barker signing is symptomatic of where counties are not "doing their part" for the international game. Championship cricket should be about developing players for the Test side. For me that's about blooding young players and not having so many 30yo+ journeymen in redball teams.
It's getting more difficult to find redball players as everything is geared towards white ball.

Sounds pretty similar to the way Anderson retired from international cricket.

He said international, so I assume he means what he said.

I’d love him to come back to Warwickshire for a year or two but I rather agree with what @tisza said, although hopefully that will include the Bears in T20.

He has probably forgotten he is a county championship player after all this time, If he plays county championship for us next season it’s a massive boost.

His message on twitter says he looks forward to playing county cricket so hopefully that means red ball. Although he may change his mind when the ECB schedulers have him playing in the snow at the start of the season.

Cain says that negotiations are ongoing but as he has some free time in the winter would he like to do some labouring on the new hotel

Still a genuine match winner in early season conditions

He will add to the batting as well as he won’t face many 90+ bowlers.

Pakistan have got Australia on the ropes in the Women's World Cup. 60-5

Although the Australia team is strong enough you wouldn't count them out

Would do the women's game a lot of good for the some more national teams to become competitive

76-7 now

I certainly don’t rule them out though.

Mooney is still in and going well and Pakistan’s batting lineup isn’t particularly strong.

If the women are going to start doing a mooney at the games, it will definitely increase viewing figures.

Pointless anyway as the players who need it don’t play domestic cricket, plus the ball is a dogs ball.

think I preferred it when they were doing it on the cheap and taking the world feed. Odd choice of commentators.

Rapidly losing interest in anything happening at Edgbaston. They're certainly doing their best to make it hard.

Latest email is one boasting how quickly the ODI has sold out. Scratch the surface and its because a) a big chunk of the ground is being closed so they can build that fucking hotel they're obsessed with and b) another chunk of what is left has been turned over to 'premium' tickets.

Sky's cricket coverage is shocking, to be fair to them so is their football & golf coverage with very poor commentators. Yesterday I was watching some of the womens' WC & in between deliveries they were showing chances that NZ had missed and then a live ball which took a wicket which took the commentators by surprise.

If anyone has a spare hour watch the Overlap Stick to Cricket latest episode. Recently we've had Piers Morgan, Boycott and I've seen the Flintoff and Root episodes, but this week's is a classic! If you're as old as me or older (53), you'll have enjoyed the characters we had in the game through the 80's and early 90's. This episode is Gladstone Small and Allan Lamb, mainly on the 86/87 Ashes tour. Seems like a 3 month piss up, spoilt by a bit of winning cricket in the middle. Tremendous!

Big let off for the Women today in the World Cup.

On another note it seems that the TNT ashes coverage is some weird hybrid model. They're sending a presenter and the summarisers to Aus but the commentators will remain in the UK. Add in that they have zero cricket commentary and there will be a delay between Aus and the UK this sounds like a recipe for disaster.

If they were going to do this why not just take the international feed which is the Fox Cricket coverage and is generally excellent and features plenty of English commentators even when England aren't involved.

TNT claim they are using rugby and cycling commentators to 'broaden the appeal' but I'm struggling to imagine many rugby or cycling fans sitting up all night just because of a commentator.

So the massive signing the bears have been hyping up has turned out to be Woakes. Bit of an anti-climax tbh, wasn't expecting him to go anywhere else.
