With all the stuff going on it was a fantastic effort from the players to dig in and be professional to give the fans something to cheer about. Fair play boys, I'm proud of Coventry city today.

Well done lads, carry on as usual, ignore the other bollocks.

Home win against the league leaders to boot. And done the double over them

And another point, why so few comments after a more uplifting post, seems all the others would rather moan on other posts.

Couldn't agree more ricohman. 3pts against the league leaders and the double over them, despite the ever increasing crap that our owners and landlords throw against CCFC (and by that I mean SP and his coaching staff, players and fans). What a refreshing change for 90 minutes of footy to divert our attention from the ongoing circus that is SISU, ACL and Council.

Well played lads and f*ck the rest of them.

Great 3 points. Important not to head into a bad run and slip down the league. That result today restored some pride in the club. We can now look forward to Walsall game with confidence and see if we can do the double over them as well.

I enjoyed today. Decent performance, great 3 points, atmosphere decent (by recent standards) and quite good humoured too. None of the in-fighting we saw against Hartlepool. Even the Guinness in the casino was half-decent (a proper first) Just a day out at the football really. What's it all about.

Good win. Well done to the players for not letting off-field dramas get to them. :claping hands::claping hands::claping hands:

I enjoyed the first half, you'd never have guessed who was top of the league. Second half they missed 4 very good chances........................and I bet they'd have gone in knowing our luck if we had needed the points !!

we were very positive first half and it was like the Robins era. ALthough there's still too much back to the goalkeeper from our corner going on

The team that SISU built

we are lucky the administrator hasnt come in and laid off a dozen players, like up in Dunfermline at the moment.

Fantastic game, great line up, I like Barton coming deep to collect the ball from Murphy, clever! PUSB.

Barton, Bailey and Fleck were awesome today,

we were weak on the left side going forward

some good saves by murphy and some bad misses by Donny

if ACL hadnt pushed for admin we'd be 3 points behind Tranmere, shame!

We've won 20 points off the top 6 I think, which is a decent effort. And all won all 12 off the top 2.

I love the way Barton kept dropping deep for short balls from Murphy and Martin was going wide to allow Christie to get forward, anyone else notice this?

well done Gaffer, great tactics.

I wasn't going to bother for the remaining games after the way our high spirits have been crushed recently. I just couldn't sit through a pointless 90 minutes.

A mate said, go up for the team, so I did. Those boys have always put a shift in this season even when results didnt quite go our way.

Today was no different, good performance and result. Maybe coz the pressure was off. Really glad I went up.

Going the games now is absolutely pointless in my opinion, they can shove it up their arse. The whole season has been a waste of time all the games I have been to and these wankers get us a ten point deduction when were in touching distance of the playoffs if I seen that fisher I would gob in his face

Robins had a much tougher starting position and a culture of failure to eradicate, but in terms of tactical nous and vision, so far I put Pressley ahead! As well as the things you describe, there's:

1) Throw ins: AT LAST WE TAKE DECENT THROWS! It's been something we suck at for as long as I remember, we didn't even get the most out of a long throw specialist when we had one. The best thing about our throws is that we take them quickly, invariably backwards to a man who has taken a position in space. It's simple and easy-99% of Premiership full-backs are capable of doing this, but we have always been dreadful, hurling it blindly forwards towards our one man marked by three opponents, losing possession-even conceding-but not any more.
2) Closing down higher up the pitch, notably today by employing Bailey high as the presser and...
3)...having two deep lying play-makers, one with a free role. He's basically totally flipped our midfield three. For the first time since we became a 451 team the midfield three isn't wasting a "hole" player, they're all very much involved in play and crowding the opposition midfield out (like every other team that played 451 did to us in the past!). The fluidity of those three and the overlapping full-backs means that we are playing between the lines a lot more.
4) Passing style/moving opposition around/resting when we have the ball. Basically listen to the Barton interview, he said exactly what I've been thinking was the plan since Pressley has been here. Unlike the use of the style under Thorn (especially when Clingan played), there's actually a cohesion to the build up play: it's not Sideways Adam by a long chalk, he's very good at spinning and pinging a forward pass into feet. It's also great to see Murphy's ability at throwing being fully utilised-that aspect of his game always impressed me at Scunny.
5) Corners: it's early days and we didn't score today, but the corners ACTUALLY WENT INTO THE OPPOSITION AREA, rather than landing 10 yards past it. I like Baker, but he simply can't take corners. Fleck is undoubtedly our best corner taker and will create chances from them.
6) Player instructions. A bit like the Martin scenario described above, many players have clearly been told to concentrate on their strengths. Notably Barton, "back to my best position, at last!", but in particular Cyrus, who seems to have been told to concentrate on his dribbling and hitting the area, rather than swinging in crosses from deep that he isn't very good at. Getting players to do things that they are good at means they have more success, become more motivated, become much more effective players all round: Fleck and Barton actually won tackles today, even though it's not their strength, whilst Cyrus was much better defensively and played 2 or 3 superb first-time passes today where previously he would have taken too long to think about it and screwed it up.

Yeah I know I'm going over the top, it's just one game, etc, but it's just nice to be able to talk about football for a change-and bloody entertaining football at that. Olé!

the stadium has caused nothing but problems, and we have sold or let go the best players. perhaps even more of a reason to be proud of the players on the pitch. but i still say sisu, acl and the council should do one...............imo
