Every time there's a whiff of a player leaving (which happens when 99.9% of clubs get a bid in for a star player), everyone on this forum, me included, gets our knickers in a twist.

I think in this case, getting £3m for Wilson and 2 or 3 loanees is a cracking bit of business. Couple with the two other new fellas, a tiny bit of optimism has creeped back...for me anyway. I know everyone wont be happy until we're back in Cov (me included) but it's good to see that we're signing players and doing some positive transfer dealings.

I know it remains to be seen how they turn out but at least they'll have a full pre-season together.

Credit to SP and SW. Well done chaps...more of the same please...

I agree but we still need to replace Wilson's and Moussa's goals. Big, big task for Pressley.

Its only good business if its reinvested in the team OR a return to the Ricoh. Recent history tells me to wait before singing their praises.
All irrelevant to me unless we return home anyway. Sorry, I can't be positive until that happens!

Yeah, you're right STP. But we seem to be doing what SP committed to...bringing in players that he wanted. Hopefully those goals will be coming in somewhere. The past two days has been 'alright' as a CCFC fan from a football point of view.

5 incomings in 2 days...not bad in terms of potential re-investment?

We all won't be 100% positive until we're in the Ricoh but the thread was about 'on the pitch'. A good couple of days.

remember when spurs got 80 million or whatever for Bale, how did that work out ?

we didnt give Wilson away and got a good price, agreed, but its what we do with the money (if we get to spend it) that counts

That sentence,"you won't be happy until we are back at the Ricoh" for 90% of the fans is the most important.
Those 90% would not watch the sky blues if we signed Neymar, the club do not realise this,it's the basic principal that Cov playing in Northampton is just wrong ,morally and financially, and they will never attend.
That also goes for the stadium in "the Coventry area", no one will go apart from those who attend sixfields, .
SISU have totally lost the majority of the fan base forever, they will never be forgiven for how they have treated the fans.
Build the stadium and they will not come ,that is a given
Legoland will stand as a monument for everything that is wrong in how to conduct business, and more importantly how to treat your potential customers.
It will stand mostly empty ,and impossible to sell ,as it will always be associated with SISU ,full stop
The biggest loss making stadium in the history of British football and if SISU do not realise this they are truly incompetent beyond belief

This thread isn't intended to follow the same route as 98% of threads on SBT in the past few months...leave it out! Can't we f*&king celebrate some players coming to the club without resorting to the same shite that's been volleyed around for the past god knows how long?

We're still a football club (just about). Regardless of what goes on in the courtroom, lets be appreciative that we've brought some players in to replenish our squad whilst a few are sh*tting themselves that we'll get relegated.

WM

PS. No offence.

C'mon ccfcway...show an ounce of positivity! Yeah, you're right about Bale/Spurs...but there'll be examples of clubs reinvesting wisely/investing at all.

I'm just please with all the sh*t flying about in the past couple of weeks/years, bringing in 5 players in 2 days (who others seem to rate) is good work, considering our position. I don't subscribe to some who might think a return to the Ricoh is imminent and that's what these players were told but come on...for SP and SW to bring 5 in (even if 3 were probably forced as part of the Wilson deal) when we're in such turmoil of the pitch....that's good management.

If SP gets them playing as he wants, that'll be GREAT management.

Another great bit of business by waggott, and big ups to mr wilson, who carried himself in the right manner. i think any club would have taken that money for an academy player with 1 good season under his belt!! I remember southampton getting 1 -2 million offers for ricky lambert when he fired them up. The young man has pace , talent and a great finish on him, i really hope he goes on to play at the top level

i was positive about Edge, Malaga, Fleck etc....There was a few days i was waking up and the 1st thing i did was check the net to see if we had finally signed Adam Barton, as he used to be a £5 target for Liverpool, and he would be great in this league.....

Sorry weeman ,I only have a whiskey or two on a Friday and my frustration gets the better of me.
Great signings I agree, please please get us back home to the Ricoh with a team of decent new signings, and we could actually enjoy a season

I think it just shows how low the club as sunk as a player moves to Bournemouth to further his career and it's regarded as good business by the supporters.

Weeman, sorry, for me, I'm with the Rev, they could sign Ronaldo, it wouldn't be exciting. We aren't CCFC in truth if we don't play IN Coventry.
It's the harsh reality of that - it knocks everything away.
These players - most of our fans won't ever see them play. How can that be positive? It isn't.
It may mar your positive thread, but it's the reality for 95% of the fans.

Don't wish to piss on anyone's chips, but if an offer such as 3m comes in for a player like Wilson you have to take that as a club and if you didn't bring a number of players in, in exchange for the players you have lost you would be rather incompetent wouldn't you?

The club have merely done what needed to be done. What had to be done for us to function as a squad for next season.

Too True.
And some still defend them after what they have done to this club..

Sorry but I have never even heard of half of the players we have brought in.

Looking at recent loanees most will not make the grade and will go back to their parent club.
Who loans out a good player.

I'm not going to give someone credit for not being incompetent for once.

This whole thread is like a criminal who goes straight and then expects praise for it.

Once again Stockholm syndrome I suspect.

Sorry if i'm not salivating that Sisu have thrown us a few crumbs !!
But I can't see any of these players being better or of equal quality of what we have lost !!
You may see it different but I can't see any of them being equal to Murphy, Moussa & Marshall ?

Oh like Marlon some posters on here slagged him off for what he had done.

Then they expect forgiveness for going to sixfields.......

What this "good bit" of business has done is we will now see exactly what manager Steve Pressley is made of he will now have a lot of "his" players to play "his" way. I will be interested in the public opinion come Christmas

If we get promoted this season, our club comes home and we then have a squad that can compete near the top of the Championship I would be prepared to forgive. We would then be in a better place than when they took over.

I will never forget what they have done though.

Fair points SK...for me, it's just good to have some players coming in for a change when many were wetting their pants. That's all.

No one's defending SISU you plank....I'm commending SP and SW on a good bit of business....£3m and some players coming our way...not a good bit of business? Think about it on its merits....regardless of the situation.

As for not having heard of the players.....fair comment.

I had never heard of Gunnarsson when we signed him either......

Selling your top scorer when you have a powder puff defence is very very risky unless you have a 20+ goals a season man lined up.

Is £3m such a good deal if it leads to relegation?

Time will tell.

I agree. Whilst I'm glad players are coming in, ultimately it means nothing for me. Like you say, I won't be seeing them play and until we come home, I'm not bothered.

But in the spirit of the thread, I'm glad we are getting players in that Pressley wants, and I hope they come off for him.
