Ian was right - first half was good but the game is 90 minutes, not just 45!

Bury is the safety mark right now though goal difference could become an issue. Win our game in hand and we are 6 points from Bury. Swindon is vitally important to win to avoid any resurgence from them. But the target right now is Bury who won't be winning every week and neither will we, but we need to post a few wins now to put the pressure on others and show we have hope when we see the gap closed down. We just can't afford to lose at home next week. We just can't. Confidence is everything right now.

Decent first half but as always we can never manage two decent halves. When teams work us out we have no answer.

They do make life hard for themselves playing all 11 players deep in our own half. Every clearance came straight back in and it seemed like we didn't get out of our own half for an age.

Great to see some fight and the reactions of the players to the win.

Slade said Burge had a concussion so he could be fine tomorrow or out for months.

Port vale have 2 games in hand on bury, so I would say Oldham are the safety mark on 35 points. That said forget the points gap and aim for 50 points.

Also you can't say win the game in hand and we'll be x number of points behind because it all depends on when our game on hand is played, we could be closer or further behind by the time we play the game in hand.

And if we do by some miracle stay up it will go right to the wire and we won't know until the final whistle of the season.

If we are a point or two from safety with 6 or 7 games to go I'd take that. Lets hope we can be at least in that position.

Well pleased with the 3 points, and despite our predicament the good team spirit is clearly visible on the pitch. Being adrift at the bottom of the Third Division feels so unnecessary

I tried without success to start a Callum Reilly fan club after his debut against Bolton. I didn’t see some of his subsequent games, and when apparently he wasn’t great I thought I must have been mistaken. But that’s 3 times I’ve watched him now and for me he has been our MOM each time.

Another player who is quietly impressing (and tbh surprising) me lately is George Thomas, who’s looking like a good pro now.

Isn't the target to win our home games or at very least win nearly all but not lose any at home. 8 of those left I believe. Something most fans can feel part of too. That would give us some chance of picking a few points away from home because of the confidence boost. Small steps that build. Would give everyone hope although it will have come too late I fear. Can I see us doing that no if honest.

It is also important should we get relegated to build momentum now not wait till next August

The bottom line is we now need 9 more wins. If you believe we can do that, I officially dub you an optimist.
So far it's one win against a team that had more possession, more shots, more corners and dominated us for 45 minutes.
Hopefully, with Kwame playing well, Beavon returning and Folivi and Vernam materialising from who knows where, we can follow up with a win against Swindon.

Great to see a style of football that's worth people paying for again.
Long ball should be reserved for particular moments in games when you are desperate and the opposition is encamped in their own box.
Our squad really isn't built for long ball.
Today the Yak, Jones, Reid, Beavon, Bigi, Stevenson could have fitted into that team if needed. They all suit the ball on the deck.
Great to see another striking option we had forgot about giving us another option.
Also great to see that with other people's kids returning page, sterry Dan A Wright. Our own kids are getting a run of games and you can see them developing with every game. Let's stick to developing our own if what you bring in is actually no better than what you have why develop someone else's player.
DKE tenacious never gives up which Phycologically rubs off on others.
Haynes causing the opponents to panic and they sit back deeper against him. With the right protection for these full backs they can be a real attacking assets for us.
Thomas you can see the confidence growing in him.
Excellent to see. Just hope the big time Charlie's who are on the radar have the right attitude when they arrive

The only thing that spoiled it for me today was the strange guy sitting next to me.

He had the whole row to pick a seat, but plonked himself right down next to me and then talked to me all game.

Weirdo.

Why don't they put George Thomas on the half way line for opposing corners - it just allowed them to chuck everyone in - it would take two out - and then Jones should have done the same thing leaving the Yak to flatten all he could !

I'm by no means a regular this season, but my thoughts are thus...

Spent the first half on the back row almost level with the goal line we were shooting against. It seems the crowd, at least in that half of the tesco stand, couldn't wait to get ripping into someone, be it the ref, the team, whatever...

I made it 2mins14 before the first groans were heard. Tossers.

First goal was great football, the crowd around me were hammering our boys for a backwards pass in the move, didn't hear them complaining when it went in.

Confidence is such a massive part. You could see it running through the players. But is it such a fragile thing, and was pretty much evaporated by half time.

Spent 2nd half in block 14. Sorry but they mean well, but if this is our hardcore support then it's pretty sad what we've become. A few lads trying to make a noise, and a load of teenagers spouting a few catchphrases out of the football factory.

Confidence again. We let in that goal, and backs to the wall for the rest of the game. But now we've got that win I hope it can breed some belief into the team. I suspect it is a couple of games too late, and wish it could have came in the week against Wimbledon, but we can only go forward and win again next weekend.

Had something similar last season.

We have 4 ST's in our group. Mates brother before last season would come now and again so we decided we'd leave a seat in between our group, so if he came, he'd get a seat with us. If he didn't, but extra leg room. Never imagined someone would buy a ticket for a home game on their own in the middle of us.

One game someone turned up. An older chap. Now normally if someone came along and would clearly tell we were in a group, they'd say 'want to swap seats?' So we didn't have to talk over them. Not this guy. Entire remainder of the row after us (we cover the first 7 seats so easily another 15 or so seats going spare). Not this chap. He brought a ticket for that seat, and he was sitting in that seat!

Almost paxanesque that

For a start we haven't played any differently to how we have ever under Slade - when committing 4 at the back.

He has recognised two things missing from our game at this level - height and physicality in the middle of the park. The likes of Bigi and Stevenson would have been swallowed up in the Avalanche in the second half.

In the second half we were entrenched in our half and couldn't get out. Haynes was seen as the weak link of the defence and his lack of ability was exposed by a I retry slow predictable and one footed right winger. The one thing Mowbray did when coming here was leave him out unless we were really desperately - Slade should heed the same warning.

I thought Haynes played quite well today attacked well took on players most of his passes made there mark, however would like to see him in midfield rather then defence.
Overall had a good game imo
Now if you really want to watch a one footed player keep your eyes on Jodi.

He did play well, it's just a shame when someone hates to admit when they get it wrong about a player. Rather than the satisfaction they should get out of seeing that player coming on leaps and bounds.
Unfortunately if we are relegated we will lose Haynes.

Why then on the ratings thread has he scored the worst of the defenders? And good I hope we lose him.

Haynes weren't bad but not great. He's not a LB as many know. IMO he seems weak both physically and mentally. Considering he has been in and around the first team a while, he doesn't seem to have developed in them areas. If he had the tenacity of DKE he would be a far better player for it.

Yak maybe slow but everyone was waxing lyrical about akinfenwa last week. He can only manage half a game but to maximum effect. If yak can be that for us I'll be happy as he clearly still has talent.

I was out most of the afternoon. Didn't want to check the score until I got back. Bloody glad I did. 3 important, precious points! Got to build on it and make them all count. Still an almighty ask, let's hope that this result gives the team a much needed kickstart.

Personally thought Haynes was ok but no more. He needs to get a couple yds closer to the winger rather than give them so much space to cross the ball.

I was impressed by turnbull and Clarke...both had v solid games. As a team we dropped too deep second half and allowed ourselves to be put under pressure

I know Gillingham haven't been on great form but they've gone to a side that haven't won in 15 and decided not to play football and just kick lumps and try and rough them up in the first half, it played completely into our hands!

I think they'll go
Down with us and deservedly so on today's basis!

Special mention for the 3 officials especially the ref and the Lino on the old tesco stand side they were absolutely abysmal to both sides!
I was more worried about him giving a pen or the linesman missing an offside than a defensive error costing us!
