I would mark Burge a mark lower. There was one corner where he came and their man got in front of him. His positioning was completely wrong. Luckily we got away with it.

Willis is NOT a wing back, or for that matter, a fullback. He is almost totally useless coming forwards with the ball when we are on the attack.

I thought Stevenson played well first half, but looked lost in the second

It was dour all round let's face it.

Really? I thought be was equally shocking in both halves.

I'd also add - why the hell did Slade bring Jones on as a striker? He looked completely lost. And the Lamieres sub was totally baffling.

Slade got tactics and team selection all wrong. Playing rose up front was just bizarre

Especially Lameiras.

I could see the Jones move as the much needed pace might have put Fleetwood on the back foot. That would be the thinking anyway.

This though was NOT a game for Lameiras (not that many are).

I thought Stevenson did okay first half and even made some really good tackles and spread play a bit.

It was only fleeting moments, but I didn't think he was that bad.

Same can't be said for Rose however, who I thought was totally shocking, especially in that first 45 mins. Truly dreadful.

I get what you're saying but Bristol, Leeds, Sheffield??? Then just below the same size there are 'Cities' that have clubs playing at a much lower level.
The main difference is that ours was there, but has been systematically destroyed...theirs never was

One bit of light relief today.

As it was so cold I put a pair of thermal leggings on underneath my jeans. Had a brand new pair, never worn before.

Just before kick off I needed a pee so went down to the mall toilets.

Got in front of the urinal, undid my flies and started rooting around for the slit in the leggings in order to get in, but couldn't find it. I was rooting and rooting and my hands were going everywhere while I stood in front of the urinal. Some of the looks I got were priceless.

I stood there for about 45 seconds with my hands probing and searching away and it must looked for all the world like I couldn't find my penis because it was so tiny.

Look at the squad. Look what Mowbray left us with.

Plain as the nose on your face.

We have been shocking up front and that has been down to Mowbray's and Venus's awful summer recruitment.

Slade came in and we immediately got an improvement in Beavon.

Mowbray wanted a big centre half and failed. Slade came in and immediately secured Clarke.

Mowbray and Venus have a hell of a lot to answer for.

Early days for beavon and Clarke to be holding them up as a shining example of what players mowbray should have been signing.

Clarke hasn't changed much in the defence, beavon has done well but isn't the goalscorer everyone is looking for

Sadly we don't have such potential anymore. It has largely been lost to Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal & Spurs

Does that mean now its only 60% mowbrays fault?

No. it means he's had 2 weeks to try and improve the squad full of dross that Mowbray spent all close season assembling.
The baffling tactics and team shape, that's all Slades own work.

Yes of course. Logically that's exactly how it works. Obviously. Doh!

Thing is, Mowbray left us in this terrible position. Now Slade has come in and is trying to fire fight.

We were already looking like we might be doomed before Slade got here.

Clearly Mowbray fooked up big style and now we are paying for it.

2 minutes in today their defender back passed a ball with his thigh to the keeper, who picked it up ref allowed this, I am sure the thigh still counts as a back pass or am I wrong and the ref is right?

I too thought that was a clear backpass. I did check the rule after I got home and it appears the ball has to be kicked... i.e. With the foot. Therefore off the thigh etc doesn't count as backpass. So ref was right

Do you think this squad suits the Long ball game?
I don't have any issue with Slade doing it temporarily if it prevents relegation. However that won't happen unless he can sign a couple of warriors
One up front and one in Centre Mid.
That style of football will only do us for a few months though.
Once people work you out it's pointless. Not to mention it's shit entertainment as well.

The squad doesn't suit any game as we never signed a striker who can score goals. The one thing we've had every season since entering this league is a striker who can score goals.

We did make plenty of crosses in the game and with a decent striker would have scored.

The entertainment has been tripe all season. We played Oldham Shrewsbury and Northampton at home at the start of the season and the quality and entertainment was tripe.

People can bleat argue and moan all they like but Mowbray shouldn't have given octogenarians like tudgay and Ricketts new contracts or wasted wages on the likes of bigiamarana and Reid. He needed a proper striker and never got one.

We must be one of the poorest teams in front of goal in the country let alone the league. Finding a striker in January is a lot harder than in the summer.

That alone is why we will be relegated.

Yep agree a decent striker needed to be high priority.
I never really felt that Sordell would be that player.
Goalkeeper, dominant centre halve, McCann and a Leon Clarke type.
That was what was needed and still is.

Slade has come in and sorted one of those positions.

As I say I don't like aimlessly hoofing the ball.
However if he is going to do it he needs a ball winner and a couple of powerful strikers ASAP.

Never said anything of the sort and you know it.

Slade's tactics are clearly not helping.

To suggest otherwise is ridiculous.

Slade came in with us already in a relegation dogfight. TM and MV's failure to build a decent squad has been a big part of our downfall.

Some also on here obviously have decided our fate already and nailed your flag to the mast. I just hope you don't come back changing your minds again when we string 3 wins together and the outcomes start looking different.
For me its not over by a long chalk. Its horribly gloomy today but there is a long way to go folks.

Well yes any win seems difficult to visualise just now but of course it will happen. The pessimist are out in force again on here and have made their minds up we are relegated already. I simply don't share that view at this stage of the season. It seems ridiculous to me that anyone would throw the towel in already. They can bleat on all they like about why we are in this position and find ways to apportion blame on everyone from past managers to Fisher to tactics, but the fact is there is a long way to go and I'm sure we will improve, so I can't state we are being relegated as some have said on here and Linnell too.

Sure we may improve, but is it realistic to think we can improve enough to turn relegation form into what is needed - which would effectively be promotion form. I'd have to say it's not credible. Even three or four consecutive wins might not lift us out of the drop zone. And we haven't won in 11 league games. Take a look at the last 8 games form table:

You're right.

It's fine talking about 3 wins on the bounce, but it would have to be 3 wins on the bounce with all 4 teams above us hardly picking up a point and that's just to even catch up with them, let alone take over them.

It clearly would need to be 4 wins while those around consistently drop points.

The simple fact is that these teams above is are now picking up points rather than dropping them. We need teams dropping like a stone and it's not happening. The reverse is taking place. Chesterfield drew yesterday, Shrewsbury won and Bury drew.

It's not throwing in the towel, it's accepting the bleedin obvious.

7 points adrift, rock bottom. It's almost getting to miracle stakes.
