Headlines today about a local police officer up in court for being a nonce. If he's guilty I hope they throw the book at him as clearly total scum, but the paper naming him ahead of the trial and discussing details is really a bit too tabloid imo and in the guy's area he has no comeback from this as a person or a police officer if found innocent.

I suspect being 'one of their own that they and the CPS must have pretty conclusive evidence and be fairly certain of a conviction, which if he's guilty I hope they get, but it's more of a general principle really that I don't think a local paper should be reporting on these things until after the trial.

Having posted this thread I kept an eye on the case. Today cleared of all charges.

Morally he's still a bit of a c**t, but the original point stands and further justified by the verdict.
