Decent game today, perhaps not the same intensity as the Moseley game, but convincing winners in the end. Feel that Plymouth will be our biggest challengers this season, need to make sure we grind out results against the lesser teams.

How did the injuries look to the Tuitopou & Grove?

It's seems the power off the bench and fitness last 20 mins will be a major factor in picking up wins and 4 try BPs this season!

None of the injuries looked too serious mind you its often hard to tell with rugby players. Indeed some players were replaced only to return to the game later on. The game is so attritional that at times it resembles a battlefield.

Good to hear, id heard Alex Grove was a possible dislocated shoulder but like you say they don't like to show they're injured!

Very much so the hits are quite frankly brutal and scary at times!

Support your City and your Club!

Cov’s next upcoming home fixture V Bishop’s Stortford will have a differing twist to it, with a an extended full day of sport on the way!

Our friends at Coventry City FC are playing away at Barnet in the SKY BET league 2 fixture, 7th October. The game is being televised LIVE and will be showing here at Butts Park Arena ahead of our own Nat 1 League game V Bishop’s Stortford.

Hospitality is available on the day – A 3 course meal, with match programmes, waitress service and a private lounge with doors & bars open at 11.30am & the CCFC televised kick-off at 12.30.

Cov Rugby take on Bishop’s Stortford at 3.00pm directly afterwards and that game is followed closely by our Development Squad taking on Chinnor in the Zoo League – kicking off at 5.00pm

Join us for a great day at the Club!

Contact 02476 231001 for further information and to book.

Great idea from the club!

I was going to watch the City game in the Railwaymans before but I'll watch it in the ground now!

Hopefully a full day of sport will stick another couple of hundred on the gate!

Another 5 point win for DMP so Cov still 2nd 1 point behind.
Plymouth on Covs tail 2 behind.
7th place Bishop stortford at the BPA next Saturday.
5 games in Cov have only played 1 of the current top 9 so tougher challenges to come but 24 from 25 points is a fantastic start!

Without tempting fate, the fixtures look not too bad up until the end of November. However the run from Plymouth then until Blackheath away in mid January will probably define the season.
As with CCFC, all you can do is play them one at a time and hope the run of results not only strengthens our league position but builds confidence, team spirit and also instils a bit of fear into our next opponents.

Are they the main threat, or are they a bit of a suprise package? Are Plymouth not supposed to be the main threat?

I think DMP are a surprise package of sorts, building on an established squad from last season with some solid recruitment during the summer. Also have good links with Newcastle in the top league.
Not sure if they have the staying power and the pedigree of Plymouth is probably the biggest. Would also have included Moseley and Blackheath at the start of the season but both have already recorded defeats.

Cov were the out and out favourites with plymouth with DMP expected to be up there.

DMP play at the 25k Darlington stadium which must be odd with gates being 1k but it's always been a tough place for sides to go.

Don't think anyone will run away with the league like Hartpury last season who were unbeaten. I think whoever wins it will lose at least 2 this season.

A few injuries again yesterday so that'll play a part to all clubs seasons but Covs depth is something else.

Noticed they had a young lad in from Northampton on the wing yesterday who scored a couple of tries I think.

My understanding is that the side who wins the league can afford to lose no more than 2 games all season. Is that about right?

Talk about tough! Just one club promoted and you can only afford 2 slip ups all season long.

Pretty much.

The year Ealing went up a few years back Cov lost I think 1 of the last 20 (to Ealing) and finished 3rd or 4th as they lost 3or 4 of first 6.

Not a fan of 1 up should be at least a playoff game between 2nd top and 2nd bottom of Champ.

Or 2 up and a playoff between 2nd and 3rd with 2nd having home advantage.

I'll be there next week, if all well and good. I like the idea of City live on the box in the club house before Cov kick off at 3 pm.
Makes for a good day, although will take a bit of pacing with the ale !

Prem wouldn't happen but if they could stabilise themselves as a Championship side that'd be the dream!

Would take a ridiculous amount and expansion of the Butts etc and I think having you know who down the road would make it near impossible to compete even with local sponsorship etc

I don't know someone on here with more business knowledge etc may know better but I can't see it ever happening plus I think they'll ring fence the Prem before long.

So Cov go top after a tight win 30-27
with a bonus point and a crowd of just over 1700.
God knows what happened but there appeared to be 14 mins stoppage time.

Think you will find that a rugby game is usually about 35 mins of stoppage time.

100% both clubs medical staff were there in seconds and the defibrillator was on him in under 5 mins and paramedic and ambulance there under 10 genuinely amazing!

At home , in street he wouldn't be here, but being there and the reactions have given a chance!

Not at our best today, but to get maximum points was a bonus, particularly with Darlington losing and I believe Plymouth missing out on a bonus point. Still unbeaten and we now sit proudly at the top. Lots of injuries today and with the 'incident' in the crowd it made for a disjointed game. They were game opposition who defended very well and were maybe helped by some strange referring decisions. Several times it looked like we were certain to score, only to just fall up short. But it is scrappy wins like today that may ultimately win us the major prize.
