Thursday 23 January 2014

Coventry City are closing in on the loan signing of Dylan McGeouch from Celtic.

The Sky Bet League 1 club face Arsenal in the fourth round of the FA Cup tomorrow night and are optimistic that McGeouch will be in the squad ahead of the tie.

The 21-year-old midfielder has made just three appearances for Celtic this season, while his only start came in a Scottish League Cup defeat at home to SPFL Championship team Morton.

Coventry have been linked with a move for the Scotland Under-21 player already this season and it is understood that any move now could later become permanent.

"We're quite close," said Steven Pressley, the Coventry manager. "I'd like to get him in the group because we have a lot of games in February."

Anyone know anything about him? Goalscoring midfielder? Playmaker? Ball winner? Silky skilled or tough tackling?

I'd Wiki him but I'm lazy.

Could be.

If so, not unexpected. We are just a feeder club.

From a mate of mine he's apparently pretty quick, can.pass the ball, and is creative.

Sounds like a good addition, could spell the end of Moussa though.

Okay Dylan McGeouch is a player who can play behind a striker as a central attacking midfielder, but is better on the wing, very skilful, scores goals and highly rated by Celtic.. I said yesterday that he is due to sign, but I doubt from what I have been told Dylan will feature in the FA Cup tie as he has struggled with injury recently.

Pressley even said he wanted more bodies.

He's additional to what we've got. There is zero cover really for both Moussa and Baker.

I suspect McGeouch will be moved to the left and Moussa in behind the striker whether that be Clarke or a another.

He is a great talent - and will do well in League 1 or Championship - good turn of pace and 2 good feet, and knows where the goal is I have seen him play live and was very impressed with him, I support Celtic (born in Glasgow) and I am surprised they are even considering letting him go - looks like we are building a Scottish Mafia @ CCFC - Lovin SP's work...

Maybe lining up a replacement in case Moussa gets snapped up?

I was thinking if it's said quickly it could sound like my gooch. Dunno if Presley should be saying his name with his accent during live interviews.

We've had Harrison and a few Star(r)s. And we all dream of a team of Gary Breens. And we've had Keane here too.

To be fair that article is dated 09/01/14. I still can't see how we can afford to sign anyone with a fee involved given the loss of funds from decreased crowds. We are only going one way in terms of squad quality over the next few years i'm thinking. Unless a miracle happens and we get back to Cov.
