Saw him a good many years ago (noughties) at the NEC Arena or whatever it was called. As much as I love his work, I don't think I'd bother again.
This is my thought process.Yeah, aware his voice is basically shot but I'm curious. If prices aren't insane I'll roll the dice on it, I think.
Well put it this way the cheap seats for David Byrne are £200.Isn't it only about £50?
Amazing!Well put it this way the cheap seats for David Byrne are £200.
You're never gonna see him in Coventry again. (It's debatable if anyone will see him perform in the UK again after the completion of this tour)Looks like the cheapest tickets for Dylan are £80 and it's all seated. Love you, Bob but f*ck that.
I have zero interest in Dylan, but obviously its great artists like this are coming to the city, but I have reached a point where I'm buying tickets to go to gigs based on the 'you might not get another chance' factor. You're never gonna see him in Coventry again. I'll be going - some bucket lists are 'absolute must'.
Oh I am a fan - just never got round to seeing him.I have zero interest in Dylan, but obviously its great artists like this are coming to the city, but I have reached a point where I'm buying tickets to go to gigs based on the 'you might not get another chance' factor.
Thought about going to see James Brown when he last toured the UK, never did, too late now.I have zero interest in Dylan, but obviously its great artists like this are coming to the city, but I have reached a point where I'm buying tickets to go to gigs based on the 'you might not get another chance' factor.

Same here. I reckon I listen to at least 1 or 2 Dylan tracks daily. One of my favourites? "Desolation Row".It was fairly shot even then tbh, and he just didn't look interested at all (yeah, I know, it's Bob).
I still probably play his stuff as much as anyone's though.
Far too many to quote.Same here. I reckon I listen to at least 1 or 2 Dylan tracks daily. One of my favourites? "Desolation Row".
And so many more that he 'gave' to other singers/bands! The man's a genius song writer!Far too many to quote.
When I think back to buying the two Greatest Hits (inc More Greatest hits, both of which I still have and play) LPs in the early-ish seventies, it makes me realise what a huge catalogue of work the man has.

H&SAnyone know what's happening at the Empire? They seem to be moving some shows to other venues, postponing others and the same with club nights.
Seems like someone has made a huge fuck up
Can't believe Jake Bugg is still performing. Saw him 13 years ago when I was 14
Check out The Rolling Stones. Can't believe Jake Bugg is still performing. Saw him 13 years ago when I was 14
Bit of a difference in quality there one would suggest...Check out The Rolling Stones.
That will blow your mind.
Extra tickets have been released for Bob Dylan if anyone missed out
Anyone who looked at the plans for City Centre South would probably have wondered how on earth they were going to stay open. Access from the public side largely unaffected, even if it is on the edge of a building site, but load in access and fire escapes looked inaccessible.Anyone got any ideas of what is going on with the Empire?
I saw Echobelly was cancelled there at the weekend, and obviously Jake Bugg was moved recently. Seen a few things about fire regs, and an attempted burglary too.
Would be a real shame to lose it, great venue
Certainly a bit of a nightmare scenario for them to overcome with a council like these!Anyone got any ideas of what is going on with the Empire?

Ticket prices are insane post-covid and going up by the month. There's also been a very definite move to doing less shows but playing bigger venues and charging more. Two gigs booked. Not in Cov. Shack in December in Brum (check them out if you've not heard of them) and I got a Kraftwerk ticket for Wolverhampton in May. £100! Ridiculous.

Makes the whole thing horrifically expensive. Seeing acts now only play say a date at the o2 instead of touring the country in academy sized venues. But a midweek date at the o2 for me is two days off work, £100 plus ticket and a hotel so the number of gigs I'm going to has dropped drastically.
That's before the whole shitshow of trying to actually buy them. So many things wrong with the system. 'VIP' or 'platinum' tickets that offer nothing more than a better seat, dynamic prices, bots & huge numbers of tickets passing to resale, holding back the better seats until the ones at the back have sold. System is a complete mess.
At a point now where you're better off waiting until the last minute. For most shows there's a very late release of the best tickets that they've been trying to sell at inflated prices, or even better if shows don't sell out you can pick tickets up for next to nothing on seat filler sites.
The best gig I ever saw cost £4. Spiralling concert prices are a cultural disaster | John Harris
Tickets for big tours have vastly outstripped inflation, while smaller artists and venues struggle. The magic is in danger of being snuffed out entirely, says Guardian columnist John Harriswww.theguardian.com
It's hardly surprising given the approach to the free market we're witnessing, it's a marketing masterclass dependant on which end of the spectrum Your viewing from.I very rarely see named bands anymore. Happy seeing artists like Warrington-Runcorn at Fargo for £13. However, I really wanted to see Shack at the Academy in Brum as they haven't toured for 15 years. That was £40, which was mad.
As for Kraftwerk. Been a huge fan since my teens. Saw them in 1981 and the last time in 1991 at the Hummingbird in Brum. Not bothered in recent years as they are now just a touring machine at big venues. Thought Wolves might be cheapish, but no. Nearly never got one, but well it's a 60th birthday present to myself and Ralf is 80 next year, so won't be many more chances to see them live.
But yes, prices for gigs are absolutely ridiculous now. Fees too. My ticket included £13 in fees and I don't even get a paper ticket!
