I seem to remember that SISU put the club into administration after failing to pay their lawfully owed rent. They then relocated the club to Northampton and lost 85% of their home fan revenue.

And you think the council don't want the club to prosper? Think again.

The responsibility for the club's prosperity lies with the owners of the club, not the club's suppliers / landlords etc. SISU know the financial commitments of the club and need to build revenues by providing a strong product while keeping control of their costs. It's the rules of business. SISU have failed to do this in every way possible.

And yet the council don't want the club to prosper? The only people removing revenues / money from the club and compromising it's future prosperity are SISU.

If Sisu genuinely didn't have the money to pay the rent they would probably have a lot more support and full house gates at sixfields.
But the fact is that they chose not to pay it even though it meant administration and possible points deduction !!!!!

It's not about Sisu affording to pay the rent, it's about the football club affording to pay the rent. The football club couldn't afford to keep paying £1.2m rent.

exactly, we could have abromovich as owner but technically CCFC would still not be able to afford that rent, we need to get the club making some money on its own.

I couldn't give two hoots about England.

In some respects it will be good when they go out of the World Cup at the group stage, it'll save me from the hearing / reading all the drivel printed about them in the media and having to have conversations with people who don't follow football about "Where you're watching the match" "Isn't Rooney a good player"

as for negotiations, council took so long and were spitful with admin and deductions that its made sisu even worse than they orginnaly were, no winners,only losers and thats the club and us fans.

What I would say was a fair deal is to sell the Ricoh to SISU on a Leasehold basis only. SISU have said that was want they wanted under the FFP rules and it will give SISU the match day revenues they are looking for. If after 5 years, SISU shows the council and the fans that they do actually want to own a football club and have turned the fortunes of the club around, then the council can negotiate the sale of the freehold. If SISU reject an initial leasehold deal, then it will confirm to all involved that they're not serious about owning a football club and that they're just the money grabbing, asset stripping sons of bitches we already know them to be. Compromise on all parts there.

If the council "can't" sell the freehold, then what can really be done? It seems that there is a possibility that talks could happen over a rent deal whilst they build their new stadium, which is probably as good as it is going to get for us! Even if they went back under a rent deal, discussed the freehold but nothing come of it and they had to build their own stadium then at least we would be playing in Coventry in the meantime.

I think the priority is to get back to Coventry. Discuss the freehold sale when we are back!

Correct, but what has that got to do with now?! Back then that obviously didn't suit ACL. Now it obviously does.

This seems to show that the Ricoh does not in deed need a football club to survive.

The CCC know that and that's why I think they have an upper hand over SISU regarding this mess.

SISU in the past 5 years have seriously damaged there image as football club owners by showing a lack of commitment and ambitions for the club.

The facts is if they build a new stadium, financially it will still be a burden on the club. Our debts will be rocket high and unsustainable. The only way out of this is to bring the club back home, start renting the Ricoh again and hopefully prove they are committed to the club and show they have genuine ambitions for the club. This may convince the CCC to sell the stadium and also put the ball back into the CCC court.

Standing on a hill doesn't change anything. I don't recall any hillers claiming it will to be honest.

I also don't see why we can't come back under a rent deal while they build their new stadium. Why can't we?

Because Joy said so and as she is in command of our destiny we do what she says. Like it or not our club is owned by SISU.

I think they can sell the freehold it's just they can't sell it at what is deemed to be below market rate.
