So Coventry could end up in the Coventry area...

Meanwhile, those who wouldn't go to a new ground if it was even a foot outside the boundary, might have to start again.

Think you will find they are happy to go 5 miles away. Just not a foot.

That'll be like Poundland moving next door to Fortnum and Mason.

My mum has never accepted Coventry as being in West Mids . She still puts her address at the top of letters as Coventry, Warwickshire.

Rightmove also puts Cov in Warks.

Maybe it's the way to go. The old way.

Thank your mum from me ADM!! I always HATED the fact that Coventry was changed to "West Midlands"! What a horrible, cold, boring, unfeeling county it sounds! It will always be Warwickshire for me! God's own county!!

It doesn't matter where it is, if people cannot get there easily and cheaply, they wont go.

Agree 100%. Highfield Road was more or less a central location which was accessible for all and by all transport, I was then fortunate that I moved over to near the Ricoh a year or so before it began to be built thus fortunate I can walk to games. If a new ground for instance was to be built at Ryton, the likely hood is I would jack it all in.

Went out for dinner in Leicester last night. Pains me to say it but that City Centre is streets ahead of Coventry now in terms of sports infrastructure, restaurants, bars, night clubs and shops !

I am the same, loved the fact that you can say we have a cricket team, shakespeares county etc. West mids is more of a formal boundary.

Agreed, very arrogant of them to think so.

About as much chance of it happening as CCC persuading Wasps to develop the surrounding land.

In your dreams, son. You're just a suburb of Birmingham now.

There is a lot of truth developing in this statement. Coventry is becoming one big university campus and housing complex served by shops, nightlife, sports and concert arenas and restaurants largely in Birmingham !! If the muppets at CCC keep pushing it we will lose our identity altogether and the green belt will be eroded until we gradually become a South Eastern suburb !!

Tongue-in-cheek statement obviously, but yes it's becoming a reality.

Indeed is almost every city of similar size. Cov needs billions and billions spending on it - demolish ring road, upper precinct, primark, cathedral lanes, west orchards. Its old, tatty, restrictive, intimidating. 1960's crap. Pull it all down and start again. Simple !
