we are starting to play the league better in terms of the dark arts in a positive way

game management is improving too

one thing in addition is the set pieces looking more dangerous too

There was only one fair assessment on their forum for yesterday, it was a bit funny reading some of them. One of them said barring our two goals , we created nothing, erm… hold the back page, we could have been three nil up after 15 and also the guy who wrestled Tats to the floor should have had a second yellow.

TBF we did score with our only two shots on target.

BTA had two close goal attempts, he definitely offered more threat than Simms. The stats back it up, more shots, more shot creating actions, higher xG, more progressive passes and dribbles

Yeah, I don't normally pay much attention to performances of opposition players, but Chakvetadze was superb all game. A class above the Championship I think.

We have beaten 3 play off contenders in 6 days and none of them impressed - although in retrospect the Bristol result looks better.

The standard this year is really quite poor. But even with the three missing players we need serious upgrades, particularly in defence if we want to play 4-3-3, to be considered contenders for the automatics next year.

However the good news is that this year has become a free shot - put a good run together and we are in the play offs.

A result of some sort at Swansea, and the Leeds game becomes even bigger.

Could it be we contribute to the rivals not looking great?

I mean all I ever heard was drnaks had an easy fixture list. January tell us more

Now it's rivals r shit or injury crisis so favourable fixture list still. February will tell us more.

Just give him and the club their dues.

Yes I hate this *we beat them because they were shit * mentality

The leagues always terrible too when we do well

Pretty soon it will be we won't have a better chance of getting to the playoffs ever again

Boring tbh , and mostly untrue

Watford and Blackburn are both bottom six in the form table (Swansea are bottom three), it’s a fair comment that Bristol (5th) was more impressive as a result.

In this league I think it’s all form outside the top and bottom three or four tbh. Watford looked like a team about to sack their manager yesterday, arguing, angry. God knows why when they’re as high as they are.

Still had to win though. A month ago we’d have drawn or lost that game and we would have been behind against Bristol and Blackburn, but we didn’t and that’s an improvement.

I still think the reality ( although some don't want to say it ) is that we are one of the leagues better teams outside the very best that underperformed in both boxes for much of the 1st half of the season

Teams like Blackburn, Watford and Bristol should find us hard to beat

Been this way for years.

My favourite is we only won because of a late goal.

As if a late goal was any less valid than an early one.

We beat Luton and Oxford ?

But yes we've lost games we shouldn't have too

League position doesn't really always matter on this league so shouldn't read too much into easy runs and difficult runs when it comes to fixture list

Like I say I strongly believe this is a streaky league with not much between most teams. A bit of fight and a bit of form takes you a long way.

That goes against everything you have been saying though.

You said lampard had an easy run of fixtures.

He was able to drop deep a few times to collect the ball and then be able to turn and run at them ,and it led to some of our best moments. I though he played well

Yeah I thought bta probably had his best game overall for us yesterday.

Just frustrating when he bottles challenges, he did one just outside our box.

Coincidence that he’s played better since bids were rumoured to have come in for him? Or just better in a two and starting games?

I think better in a two. He’s not a wide forward either I don’t think.

No way Sheaf gets back in the way Torps playing. He looks a different player since Lampard took over.

Although Sheaf is a good player I think he slows our momentum down at timo

It is interesting watching what other players are doing around Torp as the central focus of the video.

Would be interesting to see a similar video with either Bidwell or Eccles as the focus, Sheaf as well I suppose.

He is certainly benefitting from starting games. Think he is better centrally than out wide but not good enough to play by himself so yes better in a two starting games and playing centrally

Like I said I don't really read too much into league positions although obviously it matters a bit!

But that's fair enough. My gripe is with putting down Blackburn Watford Bristol etc now we have beat them too

Did he not play that game as a lone striker that Robins said was the “best centre forward display he’s seen” this year? He was good in that game.

Feel like he’s maybe just a bit inconsistent and when he has one of his ping pong ball first touches, maybe it gets in his head a little.

We're definitely passing the ball quicker, that maybe to do with Jamie Allen in the side
